Patents Assigned to Hosiden Electronics Co., Ltd.
  • Patent number: 5030140
Abstract: The electrical connector in accordance with the present invention may be distributed with the shield frame thereof temporarily mounted on the connector body thereof. While the shield frame is temporarily mounted, a portion of the connector body is restrained between engagement pawls or projections formed on the shield frame. While the shield frame is temporarily mounted, the shield frame is backed up by the connector body, thus preventing the shield frame from being readily deformed. When the shield frame is pushed to the connector body with a force sufficient to resiliently deform the engagement pawls on the shield frame, the shield frame may be moved from a temporary-fitting position to a final-fitting position.

  • Patent number: 5022872
Abstract: In a jack which has in its body a tip contact piece for engagement with a tip electrode of a plug when the plug is inserted into the jack body through its plug insertion hole, the tip contact piece is a U-shaped metal piece whose two legs form first and second contact pieces for gripping therebetween the tip electrode of the plug. The first contact piece is longer than the second one and its forward end is inwardly convexed to form an engaging protrusion for engagement with the neck of the tip electrode. The engaging protrusion extends into the plug insertion hole to a depth of about 20% of its inner diameter. When the plug is inserted into the jack body, a forward contact portion of the second contact piece resiliently contacts the crest of the tip electrode after the latter has moved past the engaging protrusion of the first contact piece.

  • Patent number: 5021012
Abstract: A multiple connector has an insulating body which contains a plurality of pin contacts arranged in rows and columns of a matrix. The insulating body is inserted securely in the front end portion of a cylindrical metal shielding body. Front end faces of contact holding plates holding these pin contacts in a row or a column arrangment are held in abutment with the rear face of the insulating body. The contact holding plates respectively have contact holding grooves formed therein to extend in a front and rear direction. Cord connection portions of the pin contacts extending or projecting from the rear face of the insulation body are pressed into and secured to these contact holding grooves. The cord connection portion has a press-in contact portion formed integrally therein and the press-in contact portion has a slot of a width smaller than the diameter of a core bundle of the cord to be connected.

  • Patent number: 5017156
Abstract: The present invention relates to an electrical connector comprising a shielding frame having a casing portion, a U-shaped portion and a flat-plate portion which are integrally formed. The casing portion covers the contacts of contact pieces. The U-shaped portion covers the top surface and left-hand and right-hand lateral sides of the main body of a contact piece supporting member which houses the terminal portions of the contact pieces. The flat-plate portion covers the back side of the main body of the contact piece supporting member. Accordingly, the frame substantially perfectly surrounds the contact pieces, thus producing a shielding effect. Except for the bottom of the connector, the contact pieces may be generally surrounded by merely turning the flat-plate portion at the boundary thereof with respect to the U-shaped portion, after the contact piece supporting member assembled with the contact pieces has been assembled with the U-shaped portion and the casing portion.

  • Patent number: 5014322
Abstract: The present invention concerns a diaphragm unit for a condenser microphone and a method of making the same. A conventional condenser microphone is complex in construction and the tension of its diaphragm is readily affected by temperature because first and second rings for holding the diaphragm therebetween and a cylindrical pressing member for pressing the diaphragm to apply tension thereto are separately prepared and mounted in a cylindrical housing. The present invention offers a one-piece diaphragm unit for a condenser microphone in which the diaphragm is held, with predetermined tension, between metallic first and second rings. Preferably, one of the first and second rings is provided with an edge flange which is raised about its inner periphery and extends inwardly of the other ring, biasing thereinto the diaphragm. When the diaphragm unit is built in the condenser microphone, a support plate of an insulating material is disposed in engagement with the first ring.

  • Patent number: 5013262
Abstract: The rear portion of a rectangular body of an insulating material is made hollow, and the forward portion of the body has contact housing holes extending from the front thereof to the hollow and arranged in a matrix form in the front thereof, socket contacts being housed in the contact housing holes. The rear end portions of the socket contacts are bent at right angles in the hollow and led out of the body through terminal insertion holes of a holder which forms the bottom of the hollow. The rectangular body is fitted in a square tubular shield cover produced by punching a metal plate, pressing and bending it into the desired shape. The body and the shield cover define therebetween a square groove for receiving a metal cover of the mating plug. The top panel of the shield cover has an engaging key protruding outwardly therefrom, and the key has in its top an inward protrusion for locking use.

  • Patent number: 5006675
Abstract: A jack with a switch, the body of which is formed of an insulating material and has formed therein a plug receiving hole and a switch housing portion extending from the back of the body in parallel to but separated by a partition wall from the plug receiving hole. The partition wall has a hole through which the plug receiving hole and the switching housing portion communicate with each other. In the switch housing portion there are disposed a fixed contact piece and an elastic movable contact piece which constitute the switch. A separator is interposed between the movable contact piece and the partition wall, and an actuating projection formed at the tip end portion of the separator protrudes into the plug receiving hole through the hole made in the partition wall. By inserting a plug into or pulling it out of the plug receiving hole, the actuating projection is driven to effect ON/OFF control of the fixed and movable contact pieces of the switch.

  • Patent number: 5000694
Abstract: The present invention relates to an IC card connector in whcih an IC card is inserted into gaps between a contact arrangement surface formed in a housing of the connector, and a pushing plate vertically movable with respect to the housing. After the IC card has been inserted, the pushing plate is pushed toward the contact arrangement surface by pushing mechanisms, so that the IC card is contact-pressed to the contacts on the contact arrangement surface, through the pushing plate. The pushing mechanisms may be formed by, for example, levers rotatable between first positions where the levers cross the pushing plate immediately above the same and second positions where the levers do not cross the pushing plate.

  • Patent number: 4984994
Abstract: In the card connector disclosed by the present invention, a movable member is disposed between left- and right-hand arms (8) of a U-shape slide (8) housed in a housing (15). The movable member (15) is movable between a first position where the contacts (13) of the contact pieces (13) held by the housing are separated from a card setting position and a second position where the contacts project into the card setting position. The movable member is displaced with the movement of the slider. When a card (8) is not being inserted and the slider (8) is located in the advance position, the movable member is held at the first position above-mentioned. When the card is inserted and at least the slider reaches the retracted position, the movable member is held at the second position. When the movable member is held at the second position, the contacts come in contact with external terminals of the card.
