Publication number: 20080125722Abstract: A stand for use with a syringe having a proximal end and a distal end is disclosed. The stand includes a base and a protrusion extending from the base. The protrusion is adapted to engage the proximal end of the syringe so as to maintain the syringe in a position such that the distal end of the syringe has a vertical position above a vertical position of the proximal end. The protrusion may be structured so as to extend into the proximal end of the syringe and/or form a pressure fit within the syringe. The stand may include a support that contacts a portion of the syringe located between the proximal and distal ends thereof so as to maintain a position of the syringe. Methods for using such a stand as well as kits including a syringe and stand are also disclosed.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 15, 2006Publication date: May 29, 2008Applicant: Howmedica International S. de R.L.Inventors: Brian J. Hess, Matthew E. Murphy

Publication number: 20070225654Abstract: A stand for use with a syringe is disclosed. The stand includes a base and a clip affixed to the base. The clip engages a portion of the syringe so as to removably secure the syringe to the stand in a position such that the distal end of the syringe is spaced vertically away from the base. Preferably, the syringe includes a handle extending outwardly from a barrel of the syringe, and the feature which the clip engages includes the handle of the syringe.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 19, 2006Publication date: September 27, 2007Applicant: Howmedica International S. de R.L.Inventors: Brian Hess, Matthew Murphy

Publication number: 20070185495Abstract: A stand for use with a syringe having a feature, the stand having a base portion, and a top portion. The top portion has an aperture formed therein, the aperture being structured to engage a feature of the syringe. The top portion is positioned relative to the base portion such that the syringe is maintained in an upright position when the feature of the syringe is engaged within the aperture.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 30, 2006Publication date: August 9, 2007Applicant: Howmedica International S. de R. Publication number: 20050154458Abstract: An apparatus for use in the regeneration of structured human tissue has a pair of opposed surfaces comprising a bio material or a synthetic polymer material. Each surface carries an active bio layer which can interact with stem cells from bone marrow. The opposed surfaces can be moved from an open position where they are spaced apart to a closed position in which they are closer together to form a multi-layer or sandwich construction.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 20, 2004Publication date: July 14, 2005Applicant: Howmedica International S. DE R.L.Inventor: Matthias Steinwachs

Publication number: 20040188011Abstract: A method of making a prosthetic polymeric bearing element having a backing made from a “rigid” polymeric bearing material which has a minimum hardness value of 65 N/mm2 and which supports a bearing liner having a bearing surface and made from a “soft” elastomeric polyurethane material having a hardness value of 3.0 to 9.0 N/mm2 (using machine testing method BS 2782; Pt3 method 365D). The opacity of said bearing liner is arranged to allow the passage of a laser beam through it and the opacity of said backing is arranged to prevent the passage of a laser beam which has passed through the bearing liner. The liner and backing are then bonded together and then the bearing liner and backing are treated with the laser beam to cause an improved interfacial bond by laser welding.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 4, 2004Publication date: September 30, 2004Applicant: Howmedica International S. DE R.L.Inventor: Eric Jones

Patent number: 6315798Abstract: A metal backing for inclusion in the manufacture of a prosthetic component having a plastic bearing element on an upper surface and has a bottom surface portion with elements for attachment to a bone. The backing has an upper surface portion at least part of which is formed by a grill element having exposed front and rear faces and which is intended to be embedded within the plastic bearing member during construction. The plastic bearing material of the bearing element can be molded so that all the faces thereof exposed to the grill are covered and the grill is embedded within the plastic material of the bearing element. The grill is located on a metal support and is provided with spacers on its front face to space the front face away from the support. The grill is cast integrally into the metal support during manufacture.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 1999Date of Patent: November 13, 2001Assignee: Howmedica International S.
