Abstract: A water sprinkler comprises a body (15) housing a rotor (1) which is rotatably driven about a central vertical axis by water which enters the body by an inlet (12). Water leaves the body (15) by a hollow distribution shaft (5) having at its upper end a water discharge nozzle (14). The shaft (5) extends at an angle to the vertical and is rotationally driven about the central vertical axis by an epicyclic drive mechanism comprising a pinion rotatable with the rotor (1), a ring rear (11) formed on the internal wall of the body (15) and a planet gear (7). The planet gear meshes both with the pinion and the ring gear and is attached to one end of the hollow distribution shaft.

Abstract: A hose coupling has a tubular body (10) one end of which is intended to be attached to the end of a hose-pipe (14), and the other end of which has a bore (12) to receive the spigot (20) of a co-operating coupling (22) which is retained in the bore with a snap action. Three locking members (38) project into the bore (12) to hold the spigot (20) therein, and a locking sleeve (24) can be moved axially of the body (10) to force the locking members (38) to a release position, enabling the spigot (20) to be withdrawn from the bore to separate the couplings. The locking members (38) are interconnected by a ring (26) attached to the end of the body (10), and during assembly of the coupling the body (10) and the ring (26) interengage with a snap action to retain the ring (26) in fixed relationship to the body (10) and to hold the sleeve (24 ) captive on the body (10).

Abstract: A pistol grip spray gun for the incremental control of sprayed liquids. The gun has a handle, an actuating member movable with respect to the handle in the manner of a trigger, and a barrel with an outlet for delivering a spray of the liquid. The actuating member is movable from a closed position thereof, corresponding to a closed condition of the nozzle, through a range of open positions with differing spray characteristics. A retention system is provided for retaining the actuating member in a selected position in the range of open positions. A release button is employed for releasing the retention system to permit the actuating member to return to or toward its closed position. In this manner, the spray characteristics of the gun can be varied, and retained in any chosen characteristic, by control of the trigger without the necessity of a separate adjustment of the nozzle.

Abstract: A lawn sprinkler has a base 10 through which water is directed to a nozzle which directs the water vertically upwardly onto a water dispersing member 28 which is rotatably mounted on a vertical spindle 46. The water impinges first upon a convexly curved surface 52 when it is deflected onto a concavely curved surface 54. The reaction to the force of the water on the dispersing member 28 causes the latter to rotate on the spindle 46, so that water droplets are flung off the edge of the concave surface 54 through a range of angles of inclination as the dispersing member rotates to afford 360.degree. coverage around the sprinkler.
