  • Patent number: 11644507
Abstract: Passive monitoring the integrity of current sensing devices and associated circuitry in GFCI and AFCI protective devices is provided. A protection circuit interrupter employs a capacitively coupled noise signal obtained by an arrangement of one or both of line side arms relative to a Rogowski coil. The noise signal is monitored while the line and load sides of a protective circuit interrupter are disconnected, and the connection of the line and load sides disabled if the noise signal fails to correlate sufficiently to a reference noise cycle. When the line and load sides are connected, the RMS value of the observed current signal is monitored such that the line and load sides are disconnected if the observed current signal fails to meet an RMS threshold. The observed current signal is compensated by subtracting the reference noise cycle prior to monitoring for the fault condition applicable to the protective device.

  • Publication number: 20230120182
Abstract: A flight diverter assembly is provided that includes a first section, a second section, a biasing member, and a toggle action lever mechanism. The first and second sections are movable with respect to one another about a hinge axis between an open position and a closed position. The biasing member normally biasing the first and second sections to the closed position. The toggle action lever mechanism is connected to the first and second sections and has an over-center position that corresponds with the open position. The toggle action lever mechanism releasably holds the first and second sections in the open position when in the over-center position, but interacts, during installation on a conductor, with the conductor to move the toggle action lever mechanism from the over-center position to move the first and second sections to the closed position.

  • Publication number: 20230119219
Abstract: A wildlife guard assembly is provided that includes two cover sections, a biasing member, and a toggle action lever mechanism. The cover sections are hinged so that the cover sections, when in a closed position, a cavity to capture a line post insulator is defined. The biasing member normally biases the cover sections to the closed position. The lever mechanism is connected to the cover sections and has an over-center position that releasably holds the two cover sections in an open position. The lever mechanism is positioned in the cavity such that, during installation on the line post insulator, the line post insulator interacts with the lever mechanism to move the lever mechanism from the over-center position to allow the biasing member and the lever mechanism to move the cover sections to the closed position.

  • Patent number: 11621531
Abstract: Portable, hand-held, battery operated, hydraulic tools are provided with a tool frame, a force sensor, and a location detector. A piston actuated by a hydraulic system within the tool frame applies force to the working head to perform a task, such as to apply a crimp to an electrical connector. The tool determines the maximum force applied to the crimp and records that maximum force along with the geographic location of the tool when the crimp was formed. The maximum force provides an indication of the quality of the crimp and the recorded location allows a potentially defective crimp to be located.
