The basin includes a ceiling 16. The retention treatment basin has one or more influent channels 20 that duct the influent into the basin. A weir assembly 22 extends upwardly from the floor, over which the influent flows. A cell 24 receives the influent passing over the weir. At least some of the settlable solids are retained in the cell. A baffle 26 traps at least some of the floatable solids in the cell. Part of the influent passes under the baffle. One or more up-flow screen systems 28 with bars having a triangular cross-section extend from the baffle that are pervious to fluids for receiving the influent and arresting movement of floatable solids therethrough. The screen system creates a floatable-solids depleted effluent.

    Abstract: Process and apparatus for treating wastewater from a sewer system including the steps of: (A) removing solids contained in the influent to create solids-depleted preliminary effluent (PrE) and to protect downstream systems from premature failure due to wear from solid particles; (B) removing suspended solids from the PrE to produce a suspended solids-depleted primary effluent (PE); (C) treating the PE biologically by exposing it to bacteria-supporting media that removes soluble organic material, thereby creating trickling filter effluent (TFE); (D) separating the bacterial organisms by settling to create a secondary effluent (SE); (E) subjecting the SE to tertiary treatment including granular activated carbon pressure filters to remove PCB's and other compounds and create a carbon filter effluent; (F) disinfecting the CFE to create a final effluent (FE); and (G) discharging the FE to a receiving environment, separately settling and disposing the backwash solids in a backwash clarifier.

    Abstract: A tendon alignment assembly (20) and method for aligning and providing a bearing surface for externally exposed tendons (10) below a weight bearing structure comprises a tendon slide plate (30) rigidly fixed to the underside of a structure and a tendon alignment shoe (50) in sliding and rotational engagement to the tendon slide plate. The bottom surface (52) of the tendon alignment shoe (50) defines a cavity (54) for receiving a tendon (10). The assembly provides for automatic alignment of the tendons regardless of the skew of the bridge relative to the bridge supports and also for movement caused by dynamic and thermal loading.
