Patent number: 10094106Abstract: A system and method for a quick release of a second object from a first object, e.g., quick release of hurricane panels (second object) from the inside of a habitable structure (first object). A stepped quick release bolt assembly or a dual quick release car assembly may be employed. In the preferred embodiment, a pin passing through a cross bored hole in a stepped bolt disposed in a receiving structure attached to a first object is releasable in order to disconnect the second object from the first object.Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 2015Date of Patent: October 9, 2018Assignee: Hurricane Safety Systems LLCInventors: Paul J. Patent number: 9108309Abstract: A tensioning device for installing tree stands that includes a drive end and a cable output end to attach to a medium that is placed around a tree. The tensioning device creates more tension in the medium than is generally able to be applied by hand with ratchet straps or chains, which provides safer installation of a tree stand or climbing ladder. The tensioning device includes a drive system that can be driven with standard power tools or hand tools to retract a cable. The tensioning device may be designed with or without a clutch feature. The clutch feature allows for a desired cable tension to be reached for each installation and provides feedback to the operator when the correct tension is reached. The tensioning device includes an external bracket or hook for easily attaching to a tree stand or climbing ladder.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 2012Date of Patent: August 18, 2015Assignee: Hurricane Safety Systems, LLCInventors: Timothy P. Squires, Ronald J. Hanna, Kenneth Lamb

Patent number: 9073187Abstract: A tensioning device for tie down applications in a utility market that includes a drive end and a cable output end to attach to a medium, item, or truck or trailer. The tensioning device creates more tension in the medium than is generally able to be applied by hand with ratchet straps or chains, which provides a more secure tie down of items in a utility application. The tensioning device includes an external bracket or hook for easily attaching to an item, medium, or truck or trailer.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 2012Date of Patent: July 7, 2015Assignee: Hurricane Safety Systems, LLCInventors: Timothy P. Patent number: 8590225Abstract: Systems and methods for attaching and quick releasing from inside hurricane panels at an opening in a structure are provided, thus facilitating egress. Retaining pins may be located inside a panel, protecting them from potential object strikes, and eliminating the need for drilling additional holes in the panels and permitting manipulation from inside the structure. Human error or misuse is addressed, particularly the binding of pins that result from over tightening of nuts. Industry standard methods for installing hurricane panels may be employed or modestly modified as appropriate, and thus studded angle track, F-Track and direct mount systems utilizing either male or female hardware may be employed. Some of the embodiments can attach and quick release track, wherein the panels attached to the track are released when the track is released.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 2009Date of Patent: November 26, 2013Assignee: Hurricane Safety Systems, LLCInventors: Philip Van Horn Steel, Paul Lagassey, David Stott
