Patents Assigned to Hydromentia, Inc.
  • Patent number: 8920810
Abstract: A method and apparatus for harvesting algal growth on an algal growth medium that is arranged within a floway containing water. A cable coupled to the algal growth medium is pulled by a pulling unit to draw the algal growth medium along the floway and past a vacuum positioned adjacent the algal growth medium. Suction from the vacuum is used to remove or harvest the algal growth on the algal growth medium.

  • Publication number: 20140230321
Abstract: A modular all-terrain algal production system that includes a plurality of segments. Each segment is made from one or more trays that are adapted to grow algae on their surface. The trays each have a flange end configured to be coupled to non-flanged end of an adjacent tray to form floways. Each floway has a rotatable surge bucket at one end that is able to hold water and spill the water in a wave down the floway into a catchment. The system is supported on uneven terrain by an adjustable structure arranged to provide each floway with a horizontal inclination.

  • Patent number: 6732499
Abstract: An apparatus and method for removing water hyacinths. The system of the present invention utilizes a transfer mechanism and grapple to collect hyacinth material from a body of water. The collected material is then passed to a transport for delivery to a header unit and grapple. The header unit grapple then retrieves the hyacinth material and delivers it to a collection bin for processing. The chopped hyacinth material is thereafter discharged for subsequent use as a biomass.

  • Patent number: 6572770
Abstract: An apparatus and method for harvesting aquatic plant biomass, and more particularly, to a system and method for harvesting attached algal communities or algal turf whereby water is utilized to transport algal biomass to a central collection location. Additionally, the apparatus and method of the present invention is drawn to a gathering means whereby algal turf or biomass is severed from the ATS and transferred via a towing method, instead of pushing, thereby reducing potential damage to the ATS.
