Patent number: 5653509Abstract: To prevent overloading of a clutch interposed between a driving, or input shaft (2, 112) and a driven, or output shaft (4, 115) upon blockage of the output shaft while continuous rotary power is being transmitted to the input shaft, a plurality of centrifugal weights (16, 117) are located on an output clutch member (14, 116) so that, in case of blockage of the output shaft, centrifugal force will immediately cease and power transmitting engagement between the input and output shafts will be disconnected. In order to permit starting of the clutch, a predetermined small frictional force between an input clutch member (6, 114) coupled to the driving or input shaft (2, 112) and the output clutch member (14, 116) is established, essentially independent of speed, for example under control of springs (22).Type: GrantFiled: October 2, 1995Date of Patent: August 5, 1997Assignee: Hydrostress AGInventor: Hans Bieri, Jr.

Patent number: 5515886Abstract: The connection between a residential junction pipe or the like and a sewer pipe is repaired by a cutter head that is led into the junction pipe and operates essentially with its front face. Thereby, it is unnecessary to locate junction pipes in a replaced sewer pipe as is the case with known methods. The cutter head is fastened at the front end of a flexible shaft. A feeding device feeds the cutter head during cutting. A fastening mechanism centers the device in the pipe to be worked. The cutter head includes an eccentric head rotatable about the center axis of the pipe and a cutter wheel that is rotatably supported in the eccentric head that moves in a circular orbit in the pipe. The fastening mechanism includes three radially adjustable supporting elements and a hydraulic piston-cylinder unit pressing the supporting elements against an inner wall of the pipe. After fastening of the supporting elements, the cutter head is moved by the feeding device in the pipe to achieve cutting.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 1993Date of Patent: May 14, 1996Assignee: Hydrostress AGInventor: Bruno Granella

Patent number: 5186157Abstract: A rotary cutter saw apparatus (C, B) is movable along an elongated rail element (1). To permit continuous selected longitudinal adjustment of support blocks (8, 34) with respect to a base support suface (S) along the length of elongated rail element (1), an attachment base is formed on the rail element which interfits with a projection-and-recess fit with a portion of the support block. A clamping arrangement (7) can clamp the interengaging projection-and-recess portions together; preferably, they form a dovetail connection, with a movable clamping jaw which clamps both against the attachment base and the support block structure. The support block may include a plate (10), adjustably positioned over the surface by adjustment screw bolts, or a rod or tube element (35), so that the rail element (1) and the cutter element thereon, can also be tilted about the axis of the rod or tube element.Type: GrantFiled: January 17, 1992Date of Patent: February 16, 1993Assignee: Hydrostress AGInventor: Hans Bieri

Patent number: 5180209Abstract: Recessed grooves are cut into bore hole walls of concrete or rock materials for the purpose of interconnecting two components of such materials at an interface between these components. These recessed grooves are cut by material removing tools which can be pressed radially outwardly, while a drive shaft simultaneously rotates these tools. For this purpose, an axial movement of an adjustment body is converted into a tilting movement of pivotable shafts which carry the material removable tools, whereby the adjustment body is moved linearly by a hydraulic lifting device. The material removing tools extend radially away from the lower ends of the pivotable shaft. The common adjustment movement of all of the pivotable shafts takes place independently of the rotation of the driven shaft.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 1991Date of Patent: January 19, 1993Assignee: Hydrostress AGInventor: Hans Bieri

Patent number: 4964434Abstract: The valve, preferably a dual control valve suitable for high pressure use, has a housing (2) formed with parallel bores in which rotatable valve elements (3,4) are located. The rotatable valve elements are each formed with a blind bore (22,23) coaxial therewith, and defining between an outer surface of the valve element and the blind bore a valve sleeve which communicates via lateral cut-outs (38,39) with inlets (11,12) to the blind bores. Valve sleeve portions (47,46) are left adjacent the cut-outs. The valve housing (2) is formed with outlet openings which can be exposed upon rotation of the valve elements to the remaining valve sleeve portions or to the cut-outs, respectively, to provide, selectively, CLOSED or OPEN positions of the respective valve elements. The housing and the valve elements are made of metal, the valve elements being fitted in the bore with slight amount of play.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 1990Date of Patent: October 23, 1990Assignee: Hydrostress AGInventor: Hans Bieri

Patent number: 4572580Abstract: An instantaneous desired cutting position of a milling cutter or circular saw blade in a mobile apparatus for cutting hard materials, such as a concrete highway surface, is maintained even if the mobile apparatus travels over irregular or slanted surfaces. For this purpose the saw blade position is adjustable either by varying the position of the saw blade mounting in a machine frame or by varying the position of the entire machine frame. The position correction is accomplished by a sensor which produces control signals for a position correction power drive in response to pendulum movements which represent cutter or blade deviations from the desired cutting position. The position of the entire machine frame may be varied by raising or lowering a wheel remote from the cutter or blade. Thus, a binding or jamming of the cutter or blade is prevented.Type: GrantFiled: January 9, 1984Date of Patent: February 25, 1986Assignee: Hydrostress AGInventor: Hans Bieri
