  • Patent number: 5917559
Abstract: A digital video data decoding apparatus and a control method therefor are disclosed. A plurality of synchronization patterns are stored, and the synchronization pattern of the reproduced incoming data is compared with a stored synchronization pattern. Therefore, even if the synchronization pattern is altered, the altered synchronization pattern can be detected. Further, the header data and the user data can be extracted from the error-corrected data, and they are stored in the header data buffer and the user data buffer. Then they are outputted directly to the system by utilizing the direct memory accessing section. Consequently, the data processing amount of the CPU is reduced, thereby improving the data processing speed.

  • Patent number: 5859861
Abstract: A viterbi decoder includes a maximum likelihood state value detecting device separated from a feedback loop consisting of an ACS arithmetic unit, a normalization arithmetic unit, and a state value storing device. In operation, a maximum likelihood state value is detected by utilizing the output of the state value storing device, to thereby enhance operating speed. Further, ajudgment is made as to whether a state having the minimum state value at an immediately preceding time is back-traceable from a state having the minimum state value at a current time by using survivor path information. Non-back-traceable non-correspondences are then detected, and the number of occurrences of non-correspondences are counted. If the occurrences of non-correspondences exceed a reference value, it is judged a non-synchronization. In another method, synchronization/non-synchronization is judged by detecting whether a traceback is possible, without utilizing survivor path information.

  • Patent number: 5799019
Abstract: A circuit for converting frame data is disclosed, in which data communications can be carried out by matching the T1 repeater line of the North American method and the E1 repeater line of the CEPT. The four 32-channel frame data of the E1 line of the CEPT method are converted into parallel data of 8-bit one channel, and are stored into four 64-byte buffers. The stored 32-channel frame data are read out by 24 channels at a time, while the remaining data of the 6 channels are added to the data which have been stored in the buffers. Thus five 24-channel frame data are converted into serial data before being outputted. Of the five 24-channel frame data of the T1 repeater line of the North American method, four 24-channel frame data are stored into four 64-byte buffers, while the remaining one 24-channel frame data are separated by 6 so as to store them into the four 64-byte buffers, so that the four 64-byte buffers can store the 32-channel data respectively.

  • Patent number: 5748652
Abstract: A cyclic redundancy check (CRC) circuit for detecting and correcting errors in a data stream uses a decoder and a serial-to-parallel buffer to shorten arithmetic operation time. The CRC circuit includes a first gate for switching a serial input data stream into a syndrome register section, and a buffer register for converting the serial input data to a parallel data. The syndrome register section forms redundancies for input data stream. An OR gate receives data from the syndrome register section to enable a decoder if the syndrome register section detects an error in the data stream. The decoder decodes the output from the syndrome register section. The output of the decoder is exclusively-ORed with the input data in the parallel shift register. A latch circuit thereafter outputs a corrected serial data stream.

  • Patent number: 5598397
Abstract: An objective lens drive for a laser disk apparatus drives an objective lens in focusing and tracking directions to ensure that a light beam generated from a source such as a laser diode through an optical system correctly focuses on a recording surface of a medium and follows a recording track. Focusing and tracking spring plates are formed by a one-piece spring plate device that is folded back on itself by about 180 degrees at a predetermined location. The device thus occupies little space. Slides and grooves are formed at an actuator base and a carriage, respectively, for tilt adjustment of the objective lens.

  • Patent number: 5519678
Abstract: An actuator of an Optical disk unit is controlled to convey an optical head to a target track in accordance with a tracking error signal and an acceleration pattern signal of the actuator. The acceleration pattern signal is integrated to obtain a commanded velocity of the actuator, and the tracking error signal is processed to determine a displacement velocity of the actuator. Also, a reference tracking error is determined in accordance with a variation of the displacement velocity. The commanded velocity, displacement velocity and reference tracking error are compared to obtain an error signal indicative of a difference between the commanded velocity and an actual displacement velocity of the actuator. The error signal is then differentiated and used to adjust the acceleration pattern signal, and the thus corrected acceleration pattern signal is used to drive the actuator.
