An adjusting screw (446) is rotatably extended through the slide (42) and threadedly engaged with the adjusting block (44) so that movement of the slide (42) in the vertical direction causes movement of the adjusting block (44) and the connecting member (46) in the vertical direction and of the latch (128) between locking and unlocking positions. Rotation of the adjusting screw (446) causes movement of the adjusting block (44) and the connecting device (40) in the vertical direction to adjust the locking position of the latch (128) relative to the door (10).

When the distal end of the locking member is misaligned with the passageway, the first detecting member is in a conductive state and turns on the burglar alarm system. When the distal end of the locking member is aligned with the passageway, the first detecting member is in a non-conductive state and turns off the burglar alarm system.

The lock core has an outline corresponding to the large section of the engaging member. The lock core can be removed and replaced with a new one. The engaging member can be detached from the outer spindle and the outer handle and replaced with a new engaging member corresponding to the outline of the new lock core.

When the door is closed, the locking member (36) is moved by gravitational force to a locking position. Movement of the linking rod (37) in an unlatching position through an idle travel moves the locking member (36) from the locking position to the unlocking position without moving the latch (38). Further movement of the linking rod (37) in the unlatching position causes pivotal movement of the latch (38) from the extended position to the retracted position.
