  • Patent number: 10420432
Abstract: A beverage server having a cap and a server body. The server body includes an open top container having a handle, a chamber, a pour spout, and a cap receiving portion defining a top opening. The cap is rotatably positionable within the top opening between an on-off configuration, a closed configuration, and a pour configuration. The cap has an outer facing portion and a lip, and the cap receiving portion has an inner facing portion adjacent to a top rim. Surfaces on the cap that would otherwise engage the rim and surfaces of the cap receiving portion, are cutaway to create recesses in such surfaces, which together with the top rim and surfaces of the cap receiving portion define an air vent which allows air to pass into the chamber when beverage is dispensed from the chamber via the spout when the cap is in the pour configuration.

  • Patent number: 5287641
Abstract: A card device, comprising an elongated blank folded to form a front panel and a back panel and including a fastener means to form a card with one unsealed end. The front panel has a die cut opening of a predetermined size and shape with a clear window panel covering the opening and displaying a first image thereon. An image enhancing slidable insert sized to be inserted between the front and back panels through the unsealed end is provided and includes an outwardly facing surface contrasting with the first image to enhance the first image. A second image is placed on the inwardly facing surface of the back panel, including a visible image portion and a background portion which is aligned to substantial reduce the visibility of the first image. Accordingly, insertion of the slidable insert enhances the first image and removal of the slidable insert causes exposure of the second image to the substantial exclusion of the first image.

  • Patent number: 5258867
Abstract: Enhancements to the base station of an infrared-linked communication system include tubular reflective concentrator apparatus for reflecting IR signals entering an inlet end onto a photodetector located at an outlet end. Signal-to-noise ratio is improved, signal gain in attained, and unwanted light signals are excluded thereby. The tubular reflective concentrator apparatus can also be employed with IR emitters to focus and direct emitted light from an LED or the like towards a predefined field of view. Multiple tubular reflective concentrator apparatus is shown implemented in a unitary, molded plastic shell. The photodetectors and emitters can also be mounted at the bottom of an associated tubular reflective concentrator apparatus with a plug attached thereto so that they can be plugged into a support structure to provide custom installations where necessary.

  • Patent number: 5009368
Abstract: Various apparatus and methods are shown for controlling the emissions from sprinkler heads in an irrigation system to cause variable volume irrigation at a constant pressure. In one approach, a rotating sprinkler head is rotated at different speeds as a function of the radial position of the emerging water stream so that dryer areas have slower rotational movement of the sprinkler head and, thereby, a greater volume of water discharged thereon. In another approach, the water to the sprinkler head is turned on and off during the irrigation period rather than being turned on at the beginning and off at the end. As a result, multiple heads which are individually turned off and on have a better average water distribution. Likewise, high-precipitation sprinkler heads are made to operate with an average low-precipitation so that run-off and water waste are virtually eliminated.

  • Patent number: 5007320
Abstract: A compass for sweeping an arc of a circle on a sheet of material comprises an annular base having a lower surface engageable with the material. A support member is rotatably supported on the base and a toolholder is mounted on the support member. The toolholder is moveable with the support and upon rotation of the support relative to the base, sweeps an arc of a circle. The toolholder has a toolpost to support a tool and permit movement of the tool relative to the support member in a direction generally normal to the sheet of material to facilitate movement of a tool mounted in the holder into and out of engagement with the sheet of material.

  • Patent number: 4989238
Abstract: Facsimile record and playback apparatus for receiving and recording facsimile transmissions on a removable recording medium for later display and viewing. There is a cassette device and a record/playback deck for removably receiving the cassette device, for receiving data signals, for writing the data signals on the recording medium, for reading the data signals, and for providing the data signals at an output. A modem is connected for receiving facsimile transmissions. First logic is connected to the output of the modem for establishing a handshaking interface with a facsimile machine transmitting a facsimile, for receiving the facsimile transmission, for stripping off unnecessary transmission related information from document data information, for inserting control characters required for proper transcription at a later time, and for transmitting the control characters and document data information as data signals to the record/playback deck.

  • Patent number: 4737791
Abstract: A sweep frequency, continuous wave (CW) radar tank gauge (3) providing measurement of the level of tank contents or ullage (19), having greatly improved accuracy through improved methods of processing calibrate and return signals directed toward the surface of tank contents (20). Use of sweep synchronous measurement (46) of time domain calibrate/return difference signals (42) and determination of a virtual "carrier" fundamental in the frequency domain, provide highly accurate measure of tank signal return times. The entire range of return signals is made available for processing and analysis (5), including distinguishable tank bottom reflections.
