Abstract: A recording sheet for ink jet printing comprising a support having coated onto said support one or more layers receptive for aqueous inks, said coating comprising at least one film forming, hydrophilic polymer or a mixture of film forming hydrophilic polymers and imbedded in this film at least one trivalent salt of a metal of the Group IIIb series of the periodic table of elements or complexes which comprise trivalent ions of the metals of Group IIIb of the periodic table of the elements. In another embodiment the salts or complexes of Group IIIb elements are coated directly on the substrate surface without the presence of the film forming polymer.

Abstract: A method for curtain coating a moving support with a liquid coating material. An evacuating device is utilized to evacuate air carried along with the moving support. A device for carrying out the method includes a pourer having a pourer lip, a pouring roll carrying a support, and an evacuating device which is disposed in front of the curtain. The evacuating device includes an evacuating blade having a front edge facing the curtain. The front edge is provided with a slot which is connected to a vacuum installation. The method and device allow a substantial stabilization of the curtain at its point of contact with the support.

Abstract: Silver halide emulsions can be spectrally sensitized by adding a silver salt solution to them until the pAg value reaches a point close to equivalence, then adjusting the pAg value to a value between 7.5 and 10 by addition of halide or thiocyanate, adsorbing a part quantity of a sensitizing dye on the silver halide crystals of the emulsions, and repeating these steps once to seven times, and adding the residual quantity of sensitizing dye in the last repeat.
Abstract: There is described a process for the production of a silver halide emulsion wherein the chemical sensitization is carried out in the presence of N-methyl formamide.
