  • Patent number: 9370071
Abstract: A light bulb assembly is described. The light bulb assembly includes a bridge rectifier to perform full wave rectification of an alternating current (AC) power source, a capacitor to smooth a voltage from the bridge rectifier, and a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs) arranged in series. A number of LEDs included in the light bulb assembly is selected by substantially balancing the voltage from the AC power source with a predefined voltage drop associated with each of the LEDs to consume the voltage entirely using the LEDs to generate light.

  • Patent number: 9161398
Abstract: A system is described for providing unconditioned power using an alternating current (AC) power source in order to power light emitting diodes (LEDs). The system may include a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs), a microprocessor to send pulse-width modulated power signals to power the plurality of LEDs, a zener diode to limit a voltage provided to the microprocessor from the AC power source, and a varistor in series with the zener diode to clamp down the voltage from the AC power source to a pre-defined value to resist current in rush to the microprocessor.

  • Publication number: 20140062339
Abstract: A technology is provided for communicating with a microprocessor that is powering a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs). Information bits may be received at a microprocessor circuit coupled to the plurality of LEDs. The microprocessor may be capable of receiving voltage from a voltage source. A code sequence may be identified using the information bits. The code sequence may be associated with an action to be performed with the plurality of LEDs. The code sequence may be decoded, at the microprocessor, so that the action can be performed with the plurality of LEDs.
