  • Patent number: 11680441
Abstract: A security unit protects a glazing unit supported by a window frame The window frame defines a void that is in communication with an air space through external air vents. The window frame has a side panel that defines side panel holes. The security unit includes a security panel that is spaced apart from the glazing unit to define an air cavity and is secured to a vertical tubular bar that is secured to a side panel of the window frame. The vertical tubular bar defines a passage therethrough in communication with the air cavity through air cavity vents and defines passage holes aligned the side panel holes. Air circulates from the air cavity to the air space through the air cavity vents, the passage holes, the side panel holes and external air vents.

  • Patent number: 9790735
Abstract: Protective glazing systems, apparatus, and associated methods for the protection of structural openings against impacts from projectiles from any cause, including nature or man. In some embodiments, the system may comprise a substantially unbreakable and clear or opaque panel, which may be at least substantially the same size (length and width) as the visible glass being protected, and may be anchored to the original glazing via standoff and/or anchor elements. Another embodiment may comprise a substantially unbreakable, ballistic-tolerant panel cut slightly larger than the visible original glazing being protected, said panel being attached to the structural opening via standoff and/or anchor means.

Abstract: A protective additional glazing system, apparatus, and associated methods is disclosed for the protection of structural openings against impacts from projectiles from any cause, including nature or man. The system consists of a substantially rigid panel, substantially the same size as the visible glass being protected, that may be attached to the inside of the frame mounting the original glass via a standoff/anchor that is attached to the original frame via an adhesive means. Another embodiment consists of a substantially rigid panel cut slightly larger than the visible original glazing being protected, said panel being attached to the structural opening via a standoff/anchor/adhesive means. This invention provides security and protection in an effective and affordable manner.
