Abstract: A method of inhibiting combustion of some of the surfaces of a solid propellant charge for or in a rocket motor comprising bonding to said surfaces an elastomeric compound resistant to permeation by combustible components of the charge, and bonding a combustion inhibiting cellulosic derivative to the elastomeric compound, the cellulosic derivative being spaced from said surfaces by the elastomeric compound. The invention also relates to a rocket motor provided with a solid propellant charge inhibited in accordance with the method.

Abstract: A superconductor composite comprising at least one longitudinally extending superconductor filament or bundle of sub-filaments, each filament or bundle of sub-filaments being surrounded by and in good electrical contact with a matrix material, the matrix material comprising a plurality of longitudinally extending cells of a metal of high electrical conductivity surrounded by a material of lower electrical conductivity, the high electrical conductivity material surrounding the at least one superconducting filament or bundle of subfilaments being interrupted by a radially extending wall of the material of the lower electrical conductivity, the arrangement being such that where at least two superconductor filaments or sub-filaments are circumferentially circumscribed by a single annulus of the material of high electrical conductivity, the annulus is electrically interrupted by a radially extending wall of the material of low electrical conductivity.

Abstract: A flexible duct assembly comprising axially first and second duct parts, a mounting system adjustably supporting the second duct part with respect to the first duct part, a primary seal between complementary relatively movable surfaces of the first and second parts, and a secondary seal between the first and second duct parts, the secondary seal being afforded protection from the interior of the duct assembly by the primary seal. The secondary seal may be an annular sliding seal or an annular strip of elastomeric material bonded on opposite sides to relatively movable facing surfaces of the first and second parts.
