Patent number: 8784168Abstract: A louvered vent cover includes a pest guard cover, a louver frame and a vent duct attachment. The pest guard cover has a grilled guard and is mounted on the louver frame by means of pins. The louver frame contains several louvers which permit one-way passage of the air to the exterior of the building. The louver frame is mounted to the vent duct attachment by means of tabs and a clip. The vent duct attachment is adapted to fit within a vent duct. The louvered cover may be mounted over a vent duct in a new construction, or, without use of the vent duct attachment, may be mounted over an existing vent duct cover.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 2010Date of Patent: July 22, 2014Assignee: Imperial Sheet Metal Ltd.Inventor: Marc Grandmaison

Patent number: 8336923Abstract: A dryer duct elbow for attachment between a dryer vent and flexible ducting, or between flexible ducting and a wall vent, may include a first larger end, containing threading and a groove containing an O-ring, and a second tapered end, having circumferential threading and a groove containing an O-ring. Either end is capable of rotational sealing engagement with the flexible ducting, or with frictional engagement with the dryer or wall vents. The dryer duct elbow is formed of two halves which are connected together at the edges to form one elbow.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 2010Date of Patent: December 25, 2012Assignee: Imperial Sheet Metal, Ltd.Inventor: Mathieu Vautour

Patent number: 7442120Abstract: The present invention provides a connection adapter for use with a flexible or rigid conduit that fluidingly interconnects an intake or exhaust port of a ventilation unit and a conduit. The adapter comprises a unit coupler (10) having a central portion (60) with an aperture (70) and an elongated sleeve (80) aligned with the aperture (70) and extending from the central portion (60). The unit coupler (10) can be secured to a port of a ventilation unit such that the elongated sleeve (80) projects through a port into the casing of the ventilation unit. The adapter also comprises a conduit coupler (20) having a central portion (100) with an aperture (110) and an inner elongated sleeve (120) extending from the central portion (100) that is aligned with the aperture (110) of the conduit coupler (20).Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 2003Date of Patent: October 28, 2008Assignee: Imperial Sheet Metal Ltd.Inventors: Bertrand Poirier, Danny Brun, Joel Bourque, Bertrand Michaud

Publication number: 20070084586Abstract: A heat recovery ventilator defrost system utilizing a bypass section which supplies warm air in both channels of the heat exchanger to accelerate defrost, continue some ventilation of stale warm air, and recirculate a portion of the stale air flow, so as to warm incoming cold fresh air. When the system is in defrost mode, warm exhaust air to be expelled enters an exhaust inlet port and into an exhaust plenum. Because the air being exhausted (by way of the exhaust fan) through the exhaust plenum is under a positive pressure, the stale air will still be sucked out through exhaust passageway into discharge plenum, but also through the passive non-motorized bypass section into inlet plenum.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 8, 2006Publication date: April 19, 2007Applicant: IMPERIAL SHEET METALInventor: Bertrand POIRIER

Publication number: 20060065752Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus for controlling a system which includes a fluid conduit network and at least two motors each drivingly engaged with different fluid movement devices, the apparatus comprising means for providing a speed signal representative of the speed of each motor and means for providing a control signal in response to the speed of each motor. The apparatus also comprises a means for controlling the speed of each motor in response to the control signal wherein each motor speed is controlled for balancing the rate of fluid movement at an input point and an exit point of the system.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 5, 2003Publication date: March 30, 2006Applicant: Imperial Sheet Metal Ltd.Inventor: Bertrand Poirier

Publication number: 20060052048Abstract: The present invention provides an adaptable modular assembly for use in adapting the intake and exhaust of air from a heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) unit containing motors, wherein the intake and exhaust apertures of the HVAC unit can be manipulated. These apertures are pre-cut in a modular frame member so as to establish the location of the intake and exhaust, and any apertures not to be used, are covered with detachable plate members, as required. Channel members can be used in an interior of the frame member, whereby, through manipulation of the placement of the channel members, in conjunction with manipulation of the intake and exhaust apertures of the HVAC unit, the modular HVAC assembly of the present invention can be adapted to facilitate the proper installation of the HVAC unit in different types of buildings.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 27, 2005Publication date: March 9, 2006Applicant: Imperial Sheet Metal Ltd.Inventor: Bertrand Poirier

Publication number: 20050051761Abstract: The present invention provides a railing system that is modular and can be interconnected in an easy manner. The railing system comprises a top elongated member having a downwardly opening channel and a bottom elongated member having an upwardly opening channel. A number of spaced apart vertical members span the distance between the top and bottom members, wherein one end of a vertical member is inserted into the channel in the top member and the opposite end is inserted into the channel provided in the bottom member. The orientation and position of the top and bottom members is provided by the interconnection of these elongated members to supports, or posts. Due to the spaced apart relation of the vertical members positioned in the channels, portions of the top and bottom channels are exposed. These exposed portions between the vertical members are enclosed by top and bottom spacers, which interconnect with the top and bottom members, respectively.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 7, 2003Publication date: March 10, 2005Applicant: Imperial Sheet Metal Ltd.Inventors: Mario Caissie, Arice Caissie, Claude LeBlanc
