Abstract: A spacer tube design is arranged to receive a snap-on cap which may be of any desired color thereby to match the surrounding structure. The spacer tube can be bent into a rectangular outline shape without the use of separate corner inserts. The snap-on cap may be capable of holding a deisiccant material. The cap may be also designed as to provide thermal and/or sound insulation between the glazing panels and/or to securely hold a decorative grill or the like in place between the glazing panels. The spacer unit may be capable of flexing in such a manner as to accommodate relative movement between the glazing units in response to fluctuations in the forces acting on the glazing panels thereby to reduce the possibility of damage occurring to the glazing unit.

Abstract: An improved preheater is provided suitable for use with gas or oil fired reverberatory melting furnaces for recycling aluminum scrap and other scrap metals. The improved preheater comprises a charge box having a bottom, and a chamber having a bed. The chamber is in communication with the charge box at one end, and, an exit at the other. A pusher is provided for pushing the contents of the charge box into the chamber and thus pushing the contents of the chamber towards the exit. The chamber is of uniform expanding dimensions from its one end in communication with the charge box towards the exit. The bed of the chamber carries openings therethrough from a gas chamber therebelow into which heated waste gas is passed for circulation through the openings in the bed through the contents of the chamber.

Abstract: This invention relates to an adjustable vibration damper for absorbing energy causing vibratory noise in automotive vehicles, and particularly to a damper capable of adjustment to absorb a range of frequency. The damper comprises an inertial weight of a mass suitable to be effective as a tuned energy absorber having at least one suitably placed aperture therethrough to receive a frictionally interfacing mass of readily compressible elastomeric material.

Abstract: An expandable fixed dummy block is provided for fixing on the end of a stem of an extrusion press. The dummy block has a longitudinally extending axis of symmetry and outer wall, a base having a central cavity symmetrical about the axis symmetry, and a mandrel symmetrical about the longitudinal axis for sitting in the cavity in the base and being free to rotate in the cavity. The cavity is defined by an endless side wall sloping radially inwardly from its mouth away from the outer wall to a bottom and the mandrel has a face and side wall sloping radially inwardly from the edge of the mandrel to a rear seat and having an outer edge bevelled so as not to extend beyond the inner radial dimensions of the mouth of the cavity. The angle of the side wall defining the cavity to the axis of symmetry is less than the angle of the side wall of the mandrel to the axis of symmetry.
