  • Patent number: 6633555
Abstract: A system and method for correlating messages from A interface links is disclosed. When an initial connection message for a new call connection is detected, a new anchor record and call record are created to capture messages for that call. When an initial handover connection is detected, a handover pending record is created to collect messages related to the handover connection. When either a handover-from or handover-to connection is detected, a handover connection reference record is sent to a rendezvous processor. Handover-to and handover-from connection reference records are correlated in the rendezvous processor by matching data keyed to the specific handover event. Once a handover pending record is paired to an existing anchor record, the handover pending record is converted to a routing record to route messages to the anchor record.

  • Patent number: 6614894
Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for correlating transaction messages in a communications network into transaction records. A plurality of monitoring units capture the messages from the links in the communication network. A processor or state machine processes the correlated transaction records and detects calls to particular destination telephone numbers. Transactions affecting particular destination point codes can also be detected or monitored. When a short-term threshold number of calls to a particular telephone number are detected, the detecting monitor instructs other monitors to track calls to that telephone number. If a long-term threshold number of calls are detected for the destination telephone number, then a mass call alarm is generated. Information comprising the highly called destination telephone number, dialed number, destination point code, and top originating point codes is provided to the service provider following the mass call alarm.

  • Patent number: 6529594
Abstract: A system and method for capturing signaling units at international gateways in a communications network is disclosed. The signaling units are processed to determine the source and destination networks for the associated calls. The country code, nature of address field, destination point code and origination point code is used to process each message. Data about the messages that pass through the international gateway is stored to a memory device. The data can be recalled for each originating or destination network in the form of performance or quality of service statistics.

  • Publication number: 20020118813
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed which capture signaling data from a signaling network, such as Signaling System Seven, and utilize such captured data to provide information about interconnection services provided in a communication network. More specifically, in a preferred embodiment, monitors capture signaling data from links within a signaling network and correlate the messages into call or transaction records for further processing. For example, in a preferred embodiment, monitors utilize the captured messages to generate call detail record (CDR) data and usage detail record (UDR) data. The generated CDR/UDR data is communicated from the monitors to an “interconnection analysis server.” In a preferred embodiment, one or more applications execute on the IA server to collect information about interconnection services, such as usage amount and quality of interconnection services. Thereafter, a service provider may verify the usage and quality of interconnection services via the IA server.

  • Patent number: 6411604
Abstract: A system and method for processing transaction signaling units is disclosed. A plurality of interlinked network monitoring devices capture signaling units on links in a communications network. The signaling units have unique transaction identifiers which correlate the signaling unit to a specific transaction. The monitoring devices comprise a number of processors, each of the transactions is assigned to a specific processor. The system collects all of the signaling units for each transactions and combine the signaling units into a plurality of transaction records. The processors are capable of correlating multiple detections of individual messages and sorting the individual signaling units into time order. A processor receives signaling units from the communications links and determines whether it is responsible for processing the transaction that corresponds to the signaling units. If the processor has been assigned the corresponding transaction, then the signaling unit is processed locally.

  • Patent number: 6381306
Abstract: A system and method for generating service quality statistics for a communications network is disclosed. Network monitors capture messages in a communications network, such as an SS7 network, and correlate related messages into records. The records are filtered using a call detail record profile to create call detail records which are provided to an statistics server. The statistics server generates certain statistics for the message records and stores the statistics to a database. A report application recalls the statistics from the database and presents statistics in a reporting format configured by the user. The reports indicate the statistical performance of network providers for selected called or calling telephone numbers or for selected services.

  • Patent number: 6359976
Abstract: A system and method for monitoring service quality using Call Detail Records (CDR) in a communications network, such as a Signaling System No. 7 (SS7) network, is disclosed. Network monitors capture substantially all signaling units in the SS7 network generate a complete record for all calls, transactions and other communications over the network. Users configure CDR profiles that are used to filter the records. A CDR application filters the records by parsing out signaling unit components that have been selected by the user in the CDR profile. The selected message components are then formatted into a CDR record, which is sent to an external system that generates certain statistics for the message records and stores the statistics to a database. A report application recalls the statistics from the database and presents statistics in a reporting format configured by the user.

  • Patent number: 6253266
Abstract: A card cage that includes a top plane and a bottom plane and a card for use with the card cage. The card cage may operate in a variety of settings including a redundancy scheme and a load sharing scheme. The top plane and bottom plane, which replace the back plane that appears in a traditional card cage, are able to simultaneously receive a card (or cards). The top plane and bottom plane include connectors which may be coupled with other connectors on the top side and bottom side of the card to secure the card in the card cage.

  • Patent number: 6249572
Abstract: A system and method for generating call detail records in a Signaling System 7 (SS7) network is disclosed. Network monitors that are capable of non-intrusively capturing all signaling units in an SS7 network are used to generate a complete record for all TCAP transactions. Users configure CDR profiles that are used to filter the TCAP transaction records. A CDR application filters the TCAP records by parsing out signaling unit components that have been selected by the user in the CDR profile. The selected TCAP message components are then formatted into a CDR record which is sent to an external system, such as the user's billing system.

  • Patent number: 6028914
Abstract: A system is provided for monitoring the operation of switching nodes in a telephone network. A first monitor is provided which is operable to capture data on all of the connection links of a first switching node in the network. A second monitor is provided which is operable to capture data on all of the connection links of a second switching node. The first and second monitors capture selected telephone switching messages on the links of the nodes. Each monitor compiles either a primary or secondary record of switching messages pertaining to a particular call or transaction being routed by switching nodes. The primary record is maintained by the monitor which detects the first message which initiates a particular call or transaction. Subsequent messages pertaining to that call or transaction that are captured by the other monitor are compiled in a secondary record.
