Abstract: A vessel capable of having a plurality of the following structures and method of construction therefor are disclosed. The vessel comprises a hull including a cavity for receiving a plurality of containers. The vessel has one or more of the following features: a bow ramp with clamshell doors; sideport doors and ramps; internal overhead container handling system with transverse jib booms; container compartment; exterior rolling container crane with jib booms; forward pallet elevators; aft pallet elevators; a helicopter hangar; a cargo/helicopter elevator; a stern ramp/gate; a wet/dry well deck; RO/RO cargo decks; a helicopter flight deck; a wet-well ballast system; and a bow-grounding ballast system.
Abstract: A power transfer system for applying backup electrical power to electrical systems is described which applies backup power automatically without power interruption and which is straightforward to implement and inexpensive to manufacture. The power transfer system has a direct current (DC) power bus as a common supply point for protected electrical equipment, thereby making prior art systems which provide power transfer between alternating current (AC) power sources and typically provide an AC power bus in common with the protected equipment no longer necessary.
Abstract: A door assembly includes a main door body with an interior flange and an exterior flange, both extending parallel and generally away from the main door body. A door frame surrounds the door body when the latter is in a closed position, the door frame having an inner and outer flange, both of the latter extending generally toward the main door body when in its closed position. Two gaskets are provided between a flange of the door frame and a flange of the door, whereby movement of the main door body in a given direction generally perpendicular to the direction in which the flanges extend causes the gasket to be compressed.

Abstract: A split core degaussing coil loop having a segmented and disassembled loop portion that is joined together to include an object to be demagnetized, in situ, as part of the assembled core loop and further having an inductor coil assembled with the loop that is selectively energized in one or more steps from a source of electrical power which generates a demagnetizing force directed to the object.
Abstract: The invention is a connector to join structural members. In particular, the invention is a connector to assemble and join structural members where the members can be formed from dissimilar materials; for example, an aluminum plate joined by the connector to a steel plate. The connector can be formed in part or in whole from a shape memory metal that exhibits dimensional change upon assembly to complete the joint.
