Patent number: 9630349Abstract: Improved solventless processing technology for additive blends containing a polymer carrier, including those which have high level of additives, is described. High concentrations of low-melting, sticky additives lead to phase separation and extrusion instability, such that pellets cannot be formed from such additive blends by traditional extrusion process. These blends include those with a high level of active additives that have been described in the literature as Type A Superblends. Here a polymer typically acts as the carrier of the additives. The new and improved technology involves the solid state compaction processing, using a tubular die, of such impossible-to-pelletize additive blends of the Type A composition to produce commercially useful pelletized additive blends.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 2014Date of Patent: April 25, 2017Assignee: Ingenia Polymers, Inc.Inventors: Ananda M. Patent number: 9422424Abstract: A masterbatch of additives is useful for maintaining a constant and reduced coefficient of friction in polyethylene (PE) based films. The masterbatch is a compounded blend of siloxane additive in conjunction with a mineral, a cyclic olefin copolymer and, optionally, an antioxidant. These additives are different from the polar additives used in the past to reduce COF of PE films and do not have inherent incompatibility with the nonpolar PE matrix.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 2015Date of Patent: August 23, 2016Assignee: Ingenia Polymers, Inc.Inventors: Sushant D. Patent number: 7906561Abstract: The invention pertains to a process for producing a cross-linked polyolefin foam in a continuous process using standard processing equipment without using a moisture cross-linking step after processing. In this method, a vinyl functional silane compound is melt grafted onto a low density polyethylene in the presence of a free radical generator. The resulting silane grafted polyethylene resin is mixed and melted with a blowing agent in a continuous process in the presence of water to form a vinyl functional silane foam.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 2007Date of Patent: March 15, 2011Assignee: Ingenia Polymers, Inc.Inventors: Jianzhong Hu, Salvatore D'Uva, Arthur Tinson

Publication number: 20100152341Abstract: Compacted additive blends, or polymer stabilization agent blends, can be added during the post-polymerization process to enhance the processability performance of polymers. The addition of certain compaction aids, such as high melting or non-melting metallic silicates and others, increases the resistance to friability of the compacted additive pellets. These compaction aids are non-migratory during the compaction process and after introduction into the polymer resin and thus have no deleterious effects. The additive blend can contain a variety of suitable additives in addition to the compaction aids.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 9, 2009Publication date: June 17, 2010Applicant: Ingenia Polymers Inc.Inventors: Ananda M. Chatterjee, Tania M. LaFrance, Salvatore D'Uva
