Abstract: A method of providing and using thermophilic microbes for the treatment of high temperature wastewater, for the treatment of wastewater in elevated environmental temperatures and both. High temperature wastewater treatment systems using thermophilic microbes for treating waste water for use in conjunction with an industrial facility, using water in its processing or manufacturing of products or materials, such as a paper mill, pulp mill or both. In Thermophilic treatment methods and systems provide solutions that allow, among other things, a manufacturing industry, such as the pulp and paper industry, to achieve one or more and all of: reduced energy costs; increased water conservation; and increased water recycling and reuse.

  • Patent number: 10514031
Abstract: A high hardness sleeve or surface treatment to a predetermined hardness is used in a packing bore for a fluid end of a pump assembly. The bore is either treated to provide the hardness or a sleeve is used which is fitted in an oversized bore for preventing washout failure. The sleeve is welded into the pump block and machined to the proper size bore. Thereafter the bore is protected from washout failure at this location. Alternatively, a surface of the sleeve is polished which further reduces the wear on the part. The sleeve can be a stainless steel material hardened by heat treating process or otherwise treated or carbon steel sleeves with the predetermined bore hardness which could be welded into a suitable bore in the pump. However, other processes for hardening the stainless steel can be used as long as desired predetermined surface hardness is maintainable.

  • Patent number: 9217214
Abstract: A drawstring recovery and restringing device that includes a leading edge, a flexible cylindrical mid-portion and a grab scoop member. The device may be used in various methods of restringing drawstrings through articles having a drawstring channel, including securing a drawstring end within the device's grab scoop member, inserting the leading edge of the device into a drawstring channel of an article, pushing the device through the drawstring channel until the leading edge protrudes from the other end of the drawstring channel and pulling the leading edge of the device until the entire device exits the drawstring channel. The device may also be used to recover a drawstring that is fully enclosed in a drawstring channel, by feeding the grab scoop member of the device into the drawstring channel, placing the drawstring within the grab scoop member, and pulling the leading edge of the device through the drawstring channel.

  • Patent number: 9089194
Abstract: A mobility assistance device that employs a movable handle assembly and an extension support, both of which are movable between retracted and extended positions. The handle assembly is positioned when extended above a seating surface and provides leverage for a user to use his/her hands to assist in rising. The extendable support extends from a guide element along the floor beyond the center of gravity of the device and user to prevent tipping and to provide stability. When the extendable support and handle are disposed in the retracted position, the device is used like a typical cane, walker or rollator.

  • Publication number: 20140246491
Abstract: An automatic identification system for communicating identifying information by coupling signals through the human body is provided. The system includes a battery powered identification device that transmits an identifying signal via a modulated carrier. The identification device is coupled to the body of the user via a coupling plate. The signal from the identification device is received by a reading device that is also coupled to the body of the user via a coupling plate. The reading device may display and/or enunciates the identifying information to the user. The coupling technique, carrier frequency, and construction of the devices are such that the identification information is not inadvertently radiated or coupled to unintentional users or receivers.

  • Patent number: 8146474
Abstract: A quick change cutting link of a saw chain for cutting wood comprises a base member adapted to be pivotally connected to other links of the saw chain. The base member comprises a seat surface. A cutting member comprising a “V” notch releasably engages the seat surface of the base member. Attached to the “V” notch is a carbide tip, including a cutting edge. The carbide tip is accurately placed in the “V” notch by mating with a small piece of metal in the “V” notch. The carbide tip is then sinterbrazed to the cutting member. The cutting member and seat surface may also comprise an inverted L-shaped protrusion and the other includes an inverted L-shaped recess for receiving the inverted L-shaped protrusion. The inverted L-shaped protrusion and recess may be designed so as to form a wedge.
