  • Patent number: 5071605
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a foam product in which a skin material and a core material having at least one opening are set on upper molding die and lower molding die, respectively, and a foaming resin material is then poured between the skin material and the core material to integrally mold them. A recess is formed on the portion of the upper molding die that corresponds to the opening of the core material. The opening of the core material is covered by an air permeable seal member adhered to the core material. The foaming resin material is then poured in a cavity defined between the molding dies.

  • Patent number: 4952358
Abstract: A method for manufacturing an interior member for vehicles comprises the steps of laying a surface layer in a cavity of a mold, placing a reinforcing fiber mat onto the surface layer, compressing the surface layer and the reinforcing fiber mat in the mold, injecting raw material for obtaining a polyisocyanurate and demolding an integrally-molded interior member from the mold after the completion of a reaction of the raw material. The raw material comprises a trimerization catalyst, a polyol and a polyisocyanate. The amount of raw material is determined so that the density of the obtained polyisocyanurate is 1.2 to 1.9 times as much as the density of the same polyisocyanurate in its free foaming state.

  • Patent number: 4871612
Abstract: An improved interior member for vehicles which includes a substrate containing a reinforcing fiber mat with a polyisocyanurate permeated therethrough and a surface layer integrally formed on the substrate. The amount of the polyisocyanurate is so determined that the density of the polyisocyanurate in said substrate is 1.2 to 1.9 times as much as the density of the same polyisocyanurate in its free foaming state. The surface layer may include a fabric, a resilient foam and a thermoplastic resin sheet in layers, or alternatively may include non-foamed plastic as an outer layer and foamed plastic as an inner layer. A method for manufacturing the above interior member for vehicles is neither complicated nor costly.

  • Patent number: 4690348
Abstract: An apparatus which allows automatic winding of a sheet-formed article such as, for example, of foamed rubber without being influenced by the material or dimensions of the article. In the apparatus, an end of a sheet-formed article which is continuously transported by a conveyor is turned over to partially surround and press against the periphery of a tubular takeup member by means of an attaching roller assembly. Then, the turned over end of the sheet-formed article is pushed to a position below the tubular takeup member by means of a presser so that the end of the article is wrapped between the tubular takeup member and the sheet-formed article being fed by the conveyor and is thus fixedly attached to the tubular takeup member, thereby allowing subsequent automatic winding of the sheet-formed article onto the tubular takeup member to be effected by rotation of the tubular takeup member.
