Patent number: 9345804Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a skin dressing adapted, on activation, to generate one or more S-nitrosothiols by reaction between a thiol and a nitrite salt in the skin dressing for delivery of nitric oxide to a body site. The skin dressing comprises a source of Cu2+, Zn2+ and/or Fe2+ ions.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 2014Date of Patent: May 24, 2016Assignee: Insense LimitedInventors: Jan Jezek, Lynne Patricia Watson

Patent number: 9278157Abstract: A skin dressing is provided comprising a first component including a source of protons, a second component including a nitrite salt, the skin dressing further comprising a non-thiol reductant. The skin dressing is adapted, such that, when the first and second components are brought together and applied to a skin site the nitrite reacts to generate nitric oxide, increasing the pH of the dressing in contact with the skin site from an acidic value to a more neutral value.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 2014Date of Patent: March 8, 2016Assignee: Insense LimitedInventors: Jan Jezek, Lynne Patricia Watson

Patent number: 8815234Abstract: A method of treatment of a human or animal body surface infection, particularly a fungal infection, comprises applying an aqueous liquid to the infected body surface, e.g. nail region, followed by applying a dressing comprising a source of hydrogen peroxide. Also provided is a combination of the liquid and dressing for use in the method.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2010Date of Patent: August 26, 2014Assignee: Insense LimitedInventors: Paul Davis, Andrew Austin

Patent number: 7731954Abstract: A skin dressing, particularly a wound dressing, comprises oxidoreductase enzyme and, optionally, peroxidase enzyme, wherein the enzyme(s) are present in hydrated condition, e.g. being present in one or more hydrated hydrogels. The dressing is used by being located on the skin of a human or animal e.g. over a wound. The oxidoreductase enzyme catalyses a reaction that produces hydrogen peroxide from an appropriate substrate, the substrate either being naturally present in body fluids and/or being supplied separately and/or being incorporated into the dressing. The currently preferred oxidoreductase enzyme is glucose oxidase. The catalyses reaction of ?-D-glucose substrate to give hydrogen peroxide and gluconic acid. A mixture of oxidoreductase enzyme can undergo reaction (optionally catalysed by the peroxidase enzyme) to produce a variety of species including reactive oxygen intermediates that have antimicrobial properties and that can therefore assist in promoting wound healing.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 2003Date of Patent: June 8, 2010Assignee: Insense LimitedInventors: Paul James Davis, Andrew John Austin
