  • Patent number: 4201141
Abstract: An incinerating plant for urban refuse of low calorific value in which the refuse is fed downwardly through the vertical furnace by tilting elements staggered from side to side and through which combustion air is introduced into the material after being preheated at least in part by waste heat from exhaust gases from the furnace. The tilting elements are arms extending from a tubular support and are provided on their upper surfaces with orifices through which the air emerges.

  • Patent number: 4200425
Abstract: A gas-lift device having upper and lower adapting members formed with throughgoing axial bores for the incorporation of the device in a well string, the adapting members being joined by a sleeve containing a profiled member, having an axial throughgoing bore, locked therein in juxtaposition with a profiled ring threaded onto the upper adapting member, the ring having an inner diameter less than that of the axial bore of the upper adapting member, so that an inwardly extending annular ledge is formed by the ring and an annular slot is defined between the annular ledge and the juxtaposed profiled member, the combination of annular ledge, annular slot and profiled member forming an upwardly directed turbulence nozzle, supplied with pressurized gas from a chamber formed in the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 4196793
Abstract: A method of and a device for attenuating the noise radiated by a free-expion gas jet throughout the audible-frequency range as well as in the ultrasonic and infrasonic frequency ranges. Concomitantly with the complete and shock-free expansion of the gas into the atmosphere, the acoustic field of the jet is organized by the substantial diminution of the low-frequency tones by causing them to pass from the annular section of the jet to the narrow annular section of the nozzle slot. This is followed by sound-wave diffraction on emergence from the slot in the presence of a baffle, and by a wave reflection towards the sound-absorption lining of the device housing. The final noise results from an intensive ejection of ambient air by the primary gas which, leaving the nozzle slot, entrains the air by means of turbulence, the air entering through the annular channels of the case, reaching the outer orifices of the nozzle, and dividing into two flows, namely inside and outside the nozzle.

  • Patent number: 4182243
Abstract: A pneumatic transport plant in which a plurality of aligned pneumatic tubes define a transport path, the tubes being spaced apart with an overhead rail in the form of an I-beam extending continuously along the path and through each tube, in which it is mounted by brackets flanking the rail and engaging the underside of the upper flange thereof, the brackets being bolted to the walls of the tubes.

  • Patent number: 4174921
Abstract: A system for the continuous unloading of the containers of pneumatic tranrt vehicles to which an initial velocity is imparted by pneumatic displacement within a transport tube section, while the movement of the vehicles beyond the transport tube section is caused by inertia, the vehicle being suspended from an overhead rail. The unloading of the vehicle container is performed by operating a latch which engages an uncoupling cam provided on the rail, thus causing the release of the container at its rear end and the pivoting of the container around its axis in the vertical plane while the container remains suspended at its front end.

  • Patent number: 4166419
Abstract: A pneumatic transport system in which a transport tube is provided with an overhead rail in the form of an I-beam contained therein and a vehicle riding along the rail. The vehicle is formed by an elongated container suspended beneath the rail and displaceable therealong within the tube, with at least one vertical pivot mounted at an end of the container and a support mounted at an end of the container and a support mounted on the vertical pivot. A plurality of support rollers are mounted on the support and engage the lower flange of the rail while a plurality of guide rollers, also mounted on the support, flank the lower flange of the rail. Packing means provided at an end of the container enables the vehicle to be pneumatically displaced through the tube, the packing means being spaced from the wall of the tube and mounted on the vertical pivot for displacement in a horizontal plane by a pin provided on the support and engaged by a fork provided on the packing means.
