  • Patent number: 5537680
Abstract: A cellular receiver range extender has an input terminal connectable to an antenna and an output terminal to which may be connected a microwave radio receiver for cellular communication signals. The input terminal directs RF signals to a bandpass preselector covering a frequency spectrum of 825 MHz to 890 MHz leading to a low-noise preamplifier for amplifying the preselected RF signals. A divider coupled to the preamplifier feeds signals from the preamplifier at equal power levels into first and second RF paths. The first path includes a band pass filter covering the reverse cellular communication channel RF signal band from 825 MHz to 845 MHz, and the second path includes a band pass filter covering the forward cellular communication channel RF signal band from 870 MHz to 890 MHz. In the first path reverse channel signals are amplified by a low-noise amplifier while in the second path forward channel signals are attenuated.

  • Patent number: 5371484
Abstract: A low attenuation coaxial cable for carrying microwave energy at GigaHertz frequencies includes a center conductor, dielectric surrounding the center conductor and an outer conductor encircling the dielectric. This outer conductor is formed by a plurality of longitudinally extending conductive wire strands positioned adjacent one to another with a slight helical lay along the cable. Internal ruggedization includes a bedding layer of indentable dielectric material encircling the outer conductor with a single-layer ruggedizing winding of strong wire sufficiently tightly wound around the bedding layer for partially indenting this strong wire into the bedding layer. A protective outer jacket of tough plastic material surrounds the ruggedization layer. The helical lay of strong wire in the ruggedization layer is opposite to the slight helical lay of wire strands of the outer conductor.

  • Patent number: 5167532
Abstract: A captivation assembly for supporting and retaining a center contact of a coaxial connector includes a plurality of dielectric elements, preferably three, captured in concave seats in a contact support member which is located on the axis of the connector and to which the center contact is secured. These concave seats face radially outwardly on the contact support member and are uniformly angularly spaced about the axis of the connector. A retainer ring of generally hollow cylindrical configuration is included in the assembly of the outer conductive body of the connector. This retainer ring encircles the assembly of dielectric elements for retaining them in their respective seats in supporting and holding relationship. The captivation assembly desirably minimizes the amount of dielectric material while securely supporting and holding the center contact for resisting displacement of the center contact both radially and axially.
