Patent number: 5792529Abstract: A structural component is disclosed which includes first and second extrusions each consisting of a plurality of strengthening fibers. A third extrusion comprises a thermoplastic matrix that encapsulates the first and second extrusions. The three extrusions together define a non-planar cross sectional configuration of substantially transverse dimensions sufficient to provide component strength and stiffness. Also disclosed is an elongated structural component formed by extrusion consisting of a first extruded portion of a plurality of segments of strengthening fibers joined in a thermoplastic matrix and a second extruded portion comprising a thermoplastic matrix compatible with the first extruded portion. The first and second extruded portions together define a predetermined non-planar cross sectional configuration of substantially transverse dimensions sufficient to provide component strength and stiffness.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 1994Date of Patent: August 11, 1998Assignee: Intek Weatherseal Products, Inc.Inventor: Michael M. Patent number: 5772190Abstract: A coextruded plastic spring member is disclosed which is bendably disposable between first and second member to create a spring force therebetween. The spring member includes an elongated base formed from a first plastic material which is engageable by the first member. An elongated first spring portion formed from a second plastic material that is resilient and has a predetermined spring characteristic is coextruded with the base member. An elongated second spring portion is coextruded with and extends from the first spring portion and is formed from a third plastic material having a spring characteristic stiffer than that of the first spring portion, with the second spring portion being engageable by the second member. The first and second spring portions are constructed so that the first spring portion is under compressive loading when the second spring portion is bendably engaged by the second member.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 1996Date of Patent: June 30, 1998Assignee: Intek Weatherseal Products, Inc.Inventors: Michael M. Patent number: 5636475Abstract: A lock mechanism for a tilting-type double hung window which is automatically brought into engagement when the window sash is in the closed position and disengagement when the window sash is opened. The locking mechanism prevents pivoting of the window sash when the window sash is in the closed position.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 1995Date of Patent: June 10, 1997Assignee: Intek Weatherseal Products Inc.Inventor: Mike J. Patent number: 5265308Abstract: A jamb liner for a double hung window wherein a length of the jamb liner is mounted to and overlies each of the jamb sides defining the window opening. Each jamb liner has a front profile corresponding to the side of the associated sash to slidably retain and guide the sash. The jamb liner is extruded from a plastic material that is at least semi-rigid. Coextruded on the rear face of the jamb liner is are a pair of longitudinal spring hinge members each having a first portion contiguous with the jamb liner formed from a resilient material having a spring characteristic, and a second portion extending from the first portion formed from a plastic material that is at least semi-rigid. In mounting the window assembly into the jamb opening, the spring hinge members bendably and springably engage the associated jamb sides to generate a uniform biasing force on the sides of the sashes.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 1991Date of Patent: November 30, 1993Assignee: Intek Weatherseal Products, Inc.Inventors: Michael M. Patent number: 4914861Abstract: Disclosed is a braking system for braking movement of a window sash within a window frame jamb liner. A window tilt clutch member is operably attached to the window sash for normal vertical movement within the window frame jamb liner sash guide pocket. When the window sash is rotated or tilted the window tilt clutch member lockingly engages a high friction resilient material strip located on wall portions of the jamb liner sash guide pocket.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 1989Date of Patent: April 10, 1990Assignee: Intek Weatherseal Products Inc.Inventor: Michael M.
