Patent number: 5156094Abstract: A disposable pallet comprises a base plate of corrugated cardboard and a plurality of block-shaped feet situated on the bottom side of the base plate. Each block-shaped foot is made of a strong corrugated cardboard and is substantially solid, said foot comprising a substantially planar laminate including at least ten layers of corrugated cardboard situated substantially perpendicular to the base plate. Compared to the main dimension of the base plate the block-shaped foot is of a relatively small height of 15-35 mm. The pallet is very simple and strong and furthermore very inexpensive.Type: GrantFiled: July 17, 1991Date of Patent: October 20, 1992Assignee: Inter-Ikea A/SInventors: Bengt Johansson, Jan Helgesson

Patent number: 4854763Abstract: A device for impaling loose leaves, such as a loose leaf binder (1) comprising two or more holding means (14) provided with for example rings or gripping fingers (10) fastened to one or more guide or guide members (5, 15). The holding means (14) of the device are mutually displaceable in one direction with respect to the individual guide member (5, 15) and detachably fastened thereto, said holding means (14) being preferably stepwise displaceable in said direction being the longitudinal direction of the loose leaves. The inventive device enables the manufacture of loose leaf binders without regard of which country or area the binder is to be used in. It is possible to move the individual rings or gripping fingers (10) with respect to each other as well as, if necessary, to provide the binder with extra rings or gripping fingers (10). The device also enables other equipment to be placed in the binder, such as pencil holders or holders for notepads or the like.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 1988Date of Patent: August 8, 1989Assignee: Inter-Ikea A/SInventor: Magnus Jonsson

Patent number: 4830696Abstract: A method of manufacturing hollow furniture parts, such as table legs comprises conveying wooden laminae to a work station to form the furniture parts. The number of wooden laminae conveyed to a modeling unit provided with polygonally, preferably squarely arranged guide surfaces corresponds to the number of said guide surfaces. The wooden laminae slide across the guide surfaces while abutting said surfaces. The longitudinal edges of the individual lamina are undercut so that the laminae form a prismatic, hollow tube subsequent to being assembled. The side surfaces of said tube are mitred along the longitudinal edges of the tube, and the wooden laminae are glued together in pairs by means of a fast-drying glue applied shortly before the laminae reach the modeling unit. Support and/or end blocks are then optionally inserted in and glued to the inside of the prismatic tube. Finally the tube is cut into small pieces corresponding to the furniture parts.Type: GrantFiled: May 27, 1988Date of Patent: May 16, 1989Assignee: Inter-Ikea A/SInventor: Olle Petersson

Patent number: 4778066Abstract: A shelving unit comprises side frames having pairs of vertical rods and transverse rods connecting these pairs; and shelf frames having pairs of longitudinally extending rods and transversely extending rods connecting these pairs. The shelf frames have, at the ends thereof, notches on the front and rear edges, the notches being adapted to cooperate with the vertical rods of the side frames. The transverse rods of the shelf frames are located inwardly of the notches to produce spring deformations of the end portions of the longitudinal rods.Type: GrantFiled: October 2, 1986Date of Patent: October 18, 1988Assignee: Inter Ikea A/SInventor: Peter Stjernberg

Patent number: 4718132Abstract: In a piece of furniture, such as a piece of seating or rest furniture of the type comprising a substantially rectangular frame having two opposing frame sidepieces, a plurality of parallel, longitudinally extending grooves is provided on opposing surfaces of said sidepieces. A first flange extending in the longitudinal direction of the profiled rail member is insertable into the grove to support a bottom portion in the furniture. The rail member further comprises a web, which abuts the frame sidepiece, when the first flange has been inserted into one of the grooves, and a second flange connected to the first flange and/or the web of the rail member and extending outwardly from the frame sidepiece. The first flange forms an acute angle in the range of 15.degree.-75.degree., preferably 30.degree.-60.degree., with the web. The grooves formed in the frame sidepieces are correspondingly inclined and free of internal lining. As a result a very simple and inexpensive piece of furniture is obtained.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 1986Date of Patent: January 12, 1988Assignee: Inter-Ikea A/SInventor: Kurt Wirland

Patent number: 4318568Abstract: A hinge is made for connecting a sofa seat and a back which must be mutually pivotal. Each furniture portion has a circumferential frame of metal tube and has furthermore one or more tube projections (11) opposing corresponding projections (12) on the other furniture portion. Each tube projection (11) is provided with a bundle (21) of parallel sheet-shaped hinge means (121a, 121b) which by means of a main pin (23) are hinged to another almost corresponding bundle (22) of parallel sheet-shaped hinge means (122a, 122b) on the opposing tube projection (11) on the other furniture portion. Every second hinge means in each bundle (21) is constituted by a hinge lap (121b), and the other hinge means in the bundle are constituted by an angle controlling lap (121a).Type: GrantFiled: April 2, 1980Date of Patent: March 9, 1982Assignee: Inter-Ikea A/SInventor: Ricky Ericsson

Patent number: 4231203Abstract: A unit joint for connecting two panel units. The narrow edge surface of each panel unit has a plurality of angle guide surfaces abutting a plurality of angle guide surfaces of the adjacent panel unit in order to determine the mutual solid angle of the panel units. The narrow edge surface of each panel unit furthermore has a plurality of apertured coupling ribs, the apertures being substantially coaxial. The ribs on the first panel unit project between the corresponding projections on the second panel unit. A common locking rod extends through all the apertures of the ribs in order to draw the panel units tightly together.Type: GrantFiled: August 21, 1978Date of Patent: November 4, 1980Assignee: Inter-Ikea A/SInventors: Henrik Mikkelsen, Bjarne B.
