Abstract: A furnishing selection system provides a furniture layout design application to generate a virtual room with selected furnishings. Information can then be transferred from the furniture layout design application to a personal device. A machine-readable code is generated, which can be scanned by the personal device to transfer the information. After the information is transferred a purchase is completed of one or more products from the selected furnishings.

Abstract: In general terms, this disclosure is directed to methods and systems for presenting virtual recommendations for objects. In some embodiments, the recommendations are presented in augmented reality (AR). In other embodiments, the recommendations are presented in virtual reality (VR). One aspect is a method for guiding a user interacting with an object, the method comprising receiving, from a camera of an augmented reality (AR) device, a stream of images of a scene including the object, identifying the object in the stream of images, retrieving a set of recommendations for the object from an object recommendation data store, extracting contextual information from the stream of images, selecting a recommendation from the set of recommendations based at least in part on the contextual information, and sending to the AR device the recommendation for presenting in AR on a display of the AR device.

Abstract: A piece of furniture, comprising a first and a second furniture part, which are coupled to each other at an angle by means of mechanical coupling means. A female part is made as an oblong slot in the second furniture part with an insertion opening for introducing a male part. When coupling the first furniture part and the second furniture part to each other, the male part is brought from an insertion position in the insertion opening to an end position in the female part by moving the male part and the female part along each other. Abstract: A method for joining two objects by anchoring an insert portion provided on one of the objects in an opening provided on the other one of the objects. The anchorage is achieved by liquefaction of a thermoplastic material and interpenetration of the liquefied material and a penetrable material, the two materials being arranged on opposite surfaces of the insert portion and the wall of the opening. Before such liquefaction and interpenetration, an interference fit is established in which such opposite surfaces are pressed against each other, and, for the anchoring, mechanical vibration energy and possibly a shearing force are applied, wherein the shearing force puts a shear stress on the interference fit.
