Abstract: According to one embodiment of the present invention, the illustrative embodiments provide a computer implemented method, apparatus, and computer program product for configuring devices. Device information for a plurality of devices is retrieved from an object data manager. A determination is made as to whether a keyboard-video-mouse environment exists. If a keyboard-video-mouse environment does not exist, each device in a plurality of devices is configured to either an available state or a defined state. If a keyboard-video-mouse environment exists, each device in the plurality of devices is configured to the available state. A list of all enumerated devices is requested and a determination is made as to whether a particular device is in the list of enumerated devices. If the particular device is not in the list of enumerated devices, a pseudo device is added to the list to form a modified list of all enumerated devices.

Abstract: A method includes the steps of: detecting a request from a client to restart a streamed multimedia presentation from a new starting point; determining if an update to a source file of the streamed multimedia presentation is available; if the update is available: closing the source file, opening the update, and establishing a link to the existing data channel; locating the new starting point of the streamed multimedia presentation; and streaming the multimedia presentation from the new starting point.

Abstract: Provided are methods, apparatus and computer programs for remote monitoring of data. Log data output by an application program running on a storage-constrained apparatus is saved to local system memory—either as an in-memory data file or as output from one application piped to the input of another, or as a named pipe that passes data to a local publisher program—and then captured by the local publisher program. The local publisher program sends the data to a publish/subscribe broker, which can retain the most recent publications for analysis by one or more subscribers. This avoids the need to save large amounts of data to disk storage on the storage-constrained apparatus, and ensures that console output data and log data that is often discarded by headless, storage-constrained systems is available for analysis.

Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for managing outbound transactions in a service oriented architecture. An execution module is included to receive a J2EE Connector Architecture (“J2C”) execute command associated with a service data object (“SDO”) containing transaction data from a client application. A conversion module is included to convert the SDO to an Intermediate Document (“IDoc”). A transmission module is included to transmit the IDoc and an associated transaction identifier (“TID”) to an SAP application using a transaction Remote Function Call (“tRFC”) protocol for processing the embedded transaction data. A confirmation module is included to transmit the SDO updated with the TID to the client application in response to acknowledgement of receipt of the transaction data from the SAP application.
Abstract: This invention provides a system and method of detecting and responding to individual vehicle exhaust emissions such that a vehicle producing exhaust emissions containing pollutants in excess of required standards is assessed a higher toll or other fees than non-offending vehicles. Upon correction of the problem when emissions are determined to be within acceptable ranges, the fees are re-adjusted. Vehicle fees can be assessed on a sliding scale regardless of “acceptable thresholds” whereupon a higher levels of pollution emitted by the vehicle require payment of a higher fee than that paid by a vehicle with a lower level. Sensors may be installed within individual vehicles, or may be externally mounted to detect emissions. The use of a computer program and program code may be used for collecting and quantifying the level of pollution in the emissions and for assessing a suitable fee based on the level.

Abstract: A system and method are responsive to actual or anticipated weather changes that are likely to have an adverse effect on roadway driving conditions in a given vehicle use area. Based on the anticipated severity of the weather condition, transport-related road and/or parking tolls and fees are increased in order to discourage unnecessary vehicle travel. Using a communication system such as a transponder network, changes in the tolls and fees can be transmitted to toll collection agencies, public parking facilities and other governmental and private enterprises responsible for the collection of vehicle transport fees. Rate change information and details of weather changes can also be transmitted to vehicles likely to be affected by the adverse condition and the consequent change in these fees.

Abstract: A system for improving a logic circuit may include a processor, and a logic circuit analyzer in communication with the processor to model a plurality of nets. The system may also include an interface in communication with the logic circuit analyzer to select a target slack-value for each one of the plurality of nets. The logic circuit analyzer may determine a slack-value for each net. In addition, the logic circuit analyzer may selectively reduce resistive-capacitive delay for each net respectively if the determined slack-value is less than the target slack-value for each respective net.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method and structure for an integrated circuit structure that includes a plurality of complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) transistors and a plurality of vertical bipolar transistors positioned on a single substrate. The vertical bipolar transistors are taller devices than the CMOS transistors. In this structure, a passivating layer is positioned above the substrate, and between the vertical bipolar transistors and the CMOS transistors. A wiring layer is above the passivating layer. The vertical bipolar transistors are in direct contact with the wiring layer and the CMOS transistors are connected to the wiring layer by contacts extending through the passivating layer.

Abstract: Techniques for altering application user-interface controls are provided. More particularly the customization of a new or existing user-interface control in an application user-interface is provided. In one aspect of the invention, a method for customizing user-interface controls of an existing application comprises the recording of a procedure description performed by a user in the application user-interface. A new or modified application user-interface control relating to the procedure description is then installed in the existing application.

Abstract: A technique for improved score calculation and normalization in a framework of recognition with phonetically structured speaker models. The technique involves determining, for each frame and each level of phonetic detail of a target speaker model, a non-interpolated likelihood value, and then resolving the at least one likelihood value to obtain a likelihood score.
Abstract: Methods, systems, and media for timed power-on in a logically partitioned environment are disclosed. Embodiments may disclose determining a time period based upon a time to launch a partition and a time of day associated with the next partition to launch. After determining the time period, a timer is set to boot the system based upon the time period. More specifically, embodiments allow the timed power-on (TPO) and time of day (TOD) of logical partitions to be modified by clients independently of other partitions by determining the system TPO based upon TPOs and TODs of logical partitions as well as the TOD of the system. Some embodiments include initiating a transaction like an interrupt in response to a change in a TPO or TOD of logical partition or the system. Several of such embodiments incorporate adjusting or re-calculating the system TPO in response to the transaction.

Abstract: An apparatus and method is disclosed that configures two files for more rapid comparison by removing blank spaces from the code of all of the lines in each of the files to be compared and also by attaching a control to the beginning of each line of code in each of the two sources prior to be compared. After blank spaces are removed and the controls attached, the two files are compared to determine additions, deletions and changes. The program continues to compare the strings of identical length until all of the strings have been compared. By comparing only strings of identical length, the program is able to compare two sources in substantially less time than by using conventional means of comparison.
Abstract: An improved solution for managing application forms for an application executing on a client. A form tree that includes one or more application forms is managed on a server. The form tree enables the relationship between the various application forms to be maintained on the server. Rendering information is provided to the application for processing. In particular, the application can display each application form to a user. In response to one or more actions by the user, the application provides requests that include the user interface events to the server, which are processed on the server.
