Abstract: A process for recovering phosphate values from silica-containing phosphate ores is provided. The ore has a particle size in the range of about 0.6 to 1.2 mm and is subjected to selective flotation in the presence of a cationic flotation reagent comprising a di(hydrophobic group) quaternary ammonium salt, wherein each of the hydrophobic groups contain 6 or more carbon atoms and at least one of the groups contains from about 10-20 carbon atoms, in combination with a hydrocarbon oil and a phosphate depressing agent.
Abstract: An on-stream method and apparatus for measuring the content of a mineral constituent in a flowing slurried ore on a dry weight basis, is provided. The slurry density and flow rate, and optionally temperature, are measured to calculate a period of time during which the flowing slurry is diverted into a vessel in order to collect a target mass of ore solids therein. The time period is preferably calculated according to the following formula: ##EQU1## wherein: t is the period of time (sec);M.sub.solid is the selected target mass of the ore (g);Q.sub.slurry is the measured mass flow rate of the slurry (g/sec);p.sub.water is the density of water (g/cm.sup.3);p.sub.slurry is the measured density of the slurry (g/cm.sup.3); andp.sub.solid is the known density of the ore solids contained in the slurry (g/cm.sup.3).The slurry flow is then diverted into the vessel for the duration of the calculated time period.
Abstract: A new froth flotation collecting agent and an improved flotation process for beneficiating silica-containing ores, particularly phosphate ores, are provided. In the process, silica particles are selectively separated, by froth flotation, as a froth phase from mineral particles, particularly phosphate particles, remaining in an aqueous concentrate phase in the presence of a silica-activating ion and a mixed collecting agent containing an anionic collector and a cationic collector.
Abstract: A method for inhibiting the precipitation under alkaline conditions of metal compounds from a solution containing them by the step of adding dimethylolpropionic acid in metal precipitation-inhibiting amounts.
Abstract: The invention relates to acaricidal compositions for the control of ectoparasites of domesticated, warm blooded animals. Methods for application of the composition disclosed are also taught.
Abstract: An improved process for the thermal defluorination of phosphate rock is provided. The process comprises adding ammonia to the phosphoric acid fed to the kiln, the amount of ammonia added being effective for forming a eutectic with the fused ring and ball materials and heating the mixture with agitation to defluorinating temperatures for a period of time sufficient to defluorinate the rock and recovering the defluorinated rock.

Abstract: Novel dihydroisoxazole compounds are disclosed having activity against parasitic worms and showing little or no toxicity to the host animal. These compounds are 3-chloro-4-dialkylaminophthaloylamino-4,5-dihydroisoxazoles and 3-dialkylamino-4-dialkylaminophthaloylamino-4,5-dihydroisoxazoles. A process for making these compounds and a method of administering them to infested animals is also disclosed.
Abstract: Crystallization of trimethylolethane from supersaturated aqueous solutions is inhibited in the presence of effective amounts of crystallization inhibitors selected from methanol, isopropanol, s-butyl alcohol, t-butyl alcohol, 2-ethoxyethanol, 2-methoxyethanol, 1-methoxy-2-propanol, formic acid and 1-dimethylamino-2-propanol.
Abstract: Monorden is administered to animals to increase fertility by inducing multiple births, promoting estrus synchronization, increasing litter sizes, and increasing conception rates.
Abstract: Monomeric, biologically active growth hormone is isolated from microbially-produced insoluble inclusion bodies by solubilizing and denaturing the growth hormone by extraction of the inclusion bodies into a guanidine salt solution such as guanidine hydrochloride and subsequently renaturing at least a portion of the growth hormone in the solution by replacing the guanidine salt solution with a denaturant-free buffer solution and removing precipitated impurities and growth hormone aggregates. The renatured growth hromone is then purified by ion-exchange chromatography.

Abstract: Novel phthalamide compounds are disclosed having activity against a broad spectrum of parasitic worms and showing no toxicity to the host animal. These compounds are N-(3-chloro-4,5-dihydroisoxazol-4-yl)-N'-(substituted)phthalamides. A process for making these compounds and a method of administering them to animals are also disclosed.
Abstract: Antibiotic-metal complexes contain bacitracin, a non-toxic, complex-forming metal and a polyether antibiotic are disclosed. The complexes are useful (1) for promoting growth in poultry and mammals, (2) for controlling swine dysentery, (3) modifying rumen fluid by decreasing the acetate to propionate (A/P) ratio, (4) controlling coccidiosis in birds, and (5) purifying bacitracin or a bacitracin-metal salt.
Abstract: Ring opened halogenated Resorcyclic Acid Lactone (RAL) derivatives having the structure: ##STR1## are used to increase rumen fermentation efficiency.
Abstract: An ester represented by the formula (A-B).sub.n -C-D.sub.m where A is a branched-chain aliphatic alcohol, a cyclic alcohol or a glycol monoether thereof; B is an unsaturated dibasic acid or a substance which forms an unsaturated dibasic acid when heated; C is a polyol of at least 3 hydroxyl groups; D is an unsaturated fatty acid of from 18 to 22 carbon atoms; n and m are integers of 1 or more but n+m does not exceed the number of hydroxyls present in the C- compound.

Abstract: Purification and activation of proteins produced in transformant microorganisms as insoluble, biologically inactive inclusion bodies can be effected by solubilizing the inclusion bodies in SDS; dialyzing or refrigerating the protein solution to remove a portion of the SDS; chromatographing the protein solution on an ion-retardation resin to remove the remaining SDS from the protein; and chromatographing the protein solution thus obtained on an anion-exchange resin.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a bolus adapted to be orally administered to ruminants. The bolus contains a mixture of a magnesium silicate, a binder, and a rumen-soluble material. The bolus of the present invention provides for the controlled release of supplemental magnesium as a means of preventing and combatting the disease known as hypomaganesemia. Optionally, the bolus of the present invention can serve as a carrier for various biologically active substances.
