Patent number: 10986375Abstract: Systems and methods for erasing content stored on a set top box via a dedicated input object of a remote input device are described. A set top box (STB) receives a request to activate the set top box. The STB can create a storage location to which the STB is configured to store identifiers and passwords of a guest. The STB stores one or more user identifiers and passwords of the guest that correspond to one of one or more applications or web services accessed via the device. The STB receives, from a remote control device via a wireless communication, a command to delete the user identifiers and passwords stored on the STB responsive to selection of a delete button on the remote control device. An agent executing on the STB can delete the one or more user identifiers and passwords from the STB responsive to receipt of the command.Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 2018Date of Patent: April 20, 2021Assignee: Hotel Internet Services, LLCInventors: Gary Lane Patrick, Ran Grumer

Patent number: 9400555Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention relate to computer systems for transmitting or receiving and playing a plurality of data streams, where at least one of the data streams includes video data packets and/or audio data packets and at least one other data stream includes further data packets that are synchronized with the video and/or audio data packets. In particular embodiments, the further data stream includes haptic data packets that include haptic command data generated in real time with the video and/or audio data streams, where the haptic command data is provided to a haptic output device configured to replicate or approximate sensations through the output of one or more mechanical forces in synchronization with the playing of video and/or audio from the video and/or audio data streams.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 2012Date of Patent: July 26, 2016Assignee: INTERNET SERVICES, LLCInventors: Michael Quigley, Ramon Alarcon

Patent number: 8378794Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus for generating sensations in response to haptic data. A sensation output device can include a processor adapted to generate one or more control signals corresponding to a haptic command, an actuator adapted to output a force to a drive mechanism in response to one or more control signals received from the processor, an opening through which a portion of a user's body can be inserted, and an interface surface coupled to the drive mechanism, the interface surface configured to at least partially contact the inserted portion of the user's body. Further, the interface surface can be a compliant belt having surface features that is coupled with a carrier belt that is in contact with the drive mechanism. Additionally, the sensation output device can include a memory storing an algorithm including one or more haptic commands, which can be executed by the processor.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 2009Date of Patent: February 19, 2013Assignee: Internet Services, LLCInventor: Ramon Alarcon
