  • Patent number: 8329781
Abstract: Thermosetting colored powder paints to be used in electrostatic painting processes are described. These powder paints comprise not more than 30% by weight of at least one monochromatic pigment coated with at least one aldehyde and/or ketone resin, preferably 5 to 30% by weight, and up to 95% by weight of conversion agent, preferably 70 to 95% by weight; more than 90% of the particles of said at least one coated monochromatic pigment and said conversion agent have a particle size of between 10 and 40 microns, preferably between 15 and 35 microns. The coated monochromatic pigment and the conversion agent have the same specific weight which is between 1.3 and 1.7 g/cc.

  • Patent number: 8007906
Abstract: Coating of organic and inorganic pigments with aldehyde or ketone resins, comprising a chemical compound consisting of particles of solid organic and inorganic substances, both defined as pigments, in that they are substances which absorb a fraction of the light and reflect the complementary part thereof, coated with aldehyde or ketone resins. The latter are deposited on the surface of the pigment by means of a process which envisages melting of the resin, consequent wetting and coating of the entire surface of the pigment with the resin in the melted state, the consequent cooling and subsequent step of atomization by means of mechanical systems operating in temperature conditions lower than 10° C., by means of cryogenic processes.

  • Publication number: 20100298472
Abstract: Coating of organic and inorganic pigments with acrylic resins, comprising a chemical compound consisting of particles of solid organic and inorganic substances, both defined as pigments, in that they are substances which absorb a fraction of the light and reflect the complementary part thereof, coated with acrylic and, optionally, aldehyde and/or ketone resins. The latter are deposited on the surface of the pigment by means of a process which envisages melting of the resin, consequent wetting and coating of the entire surface of the pigment with the resin in the melted state, the consequent cooling and subsequent step of grinding by means of mechanical systems operating in temperature conditions lower than 20° C., by means of cryogenic processes or granulate by means of a wet method with a water jet cutting action and separation of the granulates by the water on a vibrating screen and then dried on a spiral elevator.

  • Publication number: 20100081745
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for preparing paints and/or inks in which a particle composition consisting of pigment dyestuff, an aldehyde, ketone and/or acrylic resin and optionally excipients and/or adjuvants are mixed into at least one organic solvent, water or a mixture thereof. The invention also relates to paints and/or inks obtainable using said preparation method and to manufactured items painted and/or treated with such paints and/or inks.

  • Publication number: 20100004387
Abstract: A process for the production of a particle composition containing, at least one resin and at least one pigment is described, said process comprising the following steps : •extrusion of a mixture containing said at least one resin and said at least one pigment without induced heating; •subsequent extrusion, with induced heating, of the mixture obtained from the preceding extrusion; •granulation of the mixture thus obtained. With the abovementioned process it is possible to obtain a composition having granules with an average diameter less than 2 microns and a greater homogeneity than the known processes.

  • Publication number: 20090182081
Abstract: Coating of inorganic pigments with aldehyde or ketone resins and at least one dispersant, comprising a chemical compound consisting of particles of solid organic and inorganic substances, both defined as pigments, in that they absorb a fraction of the light and reflect the complementary part thereof, coated with aldehyde or ketone resins. The latter are deposited on the surface of the pigment by means of a process which envisages melting of the resin, wetting and coating of the entire surface of the pigment with the resin in the melted state, and cooling and atomization by means of mechanical systems operating in temperature conditions lower than 10° C., by cryogenic processes. The resulting product may be used as a semifinished product for the colouring and pigmentation of powder paints and plastics as a monochromatic colouring material and/or may also be used, after dissolving in a solvent, as a pigmented paste.
