  • Publication number: 20070294425
Abstract: Methods and systems for enhanced Colorful Ring-Back Tone (eCRBT) services by mixing multiple digital content streams in real time are provided, including audio, video, data, text-based message, and hypermedia object streams. One or more properties of the content streams, such as volume or pitch of an audio stream, or brightness and layout of a video stream, are gradually altered such that a prominence of the an individual content stream is dynamically and seamlessly changed relative to other content streams with time. An eCRBT controller controls mixing and playing of digital content either based on an internal algorithm in an application server, or selections received from subscribers through provisioning interfaces. Personalized content streams can be mixed and played in real time based on interactive response received from a calling subscriber. Content may also be personalized based on caller by service provider.

  • Patent number: 7231021
Abstract: A Voice Extensible Markup Language (VXML) based voicemail system that has a distributed architecture is disclosed. The VXML voicemail system includes a media server and an application server. The media server is in communication with a telephone network. The media server receives a telephone call through the telephone network and invokes a voicemail service of the voicemail system by sending a request to an application server. The application server is adapted to generate a Voice Extensible Markup Language (VXML) page in response to receiving the request and provide the media server with the VXML page to the media server, wherein the media server renders at least a portion of the VXML page. Methods for implementing VXML based voicemail systems are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7161939
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and system for noiselessly switching between independent audio streams. Such noiseless switching preserves valid RTP information at the time of switch over. For established VOIP calls, the present invention can noiselessly switch audio from one audio source to another. A switch directs audio data from multiple audio sources to a network interface controller. The switch can be a cell switch or a packet switch. The audio sources can be internal audio sources and/or external audio sources. An egress audio controller controls the operation of internal audio sources, the switch and the network interface controller to carry out noiseless switching according to the present invention. Certain call events which involve additional audio trigger a noiseless switch over.

  • Patent number: 7016348
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and system for providing web audio content directly from audio processors to a telephone without requiring storage of the audio on a media server. In one embodiment, a switch and two stages of switching are used. The switch is coupled between at least one audio source and a network interface controller. A direct access controller is coupled to the audio sources, switch and network interface controller. The direct access controller establishes a first audio channel through the switch in a connection phase. The direct access controller establishes a second audio channel through the switch in an audio transport phase. In the audio transport phase, web audio content is transported directly from a remote web server to an audio source on the second audio channel and then from the audio source to the user of the telephone on the first audio channel.

  • Patent number: 6847618
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and system for distributed conference bridge processing in Voice over IP telephony. A distributed conference bridge multi-casts mixed audio content of a conference call in a way that reduces replication work at the mixing device. A switch is coupled between one or more audio sources and a network interface controller. A conference call agent is used to establish and end a conference call. The switch can be a packet switch or a cell switch. In one embodiment, a distributed conference bridge is implemented in a media server.
