Abstract: A tool holder includes a tool shank and a tool head connected to the tool shank. The tool head has a rear surface. An insert seat or a blade pocket is partially formed on both the tool head and the tool shank, and extends rearwardly of the tool head's rear surface. Adjacent to at least a portion of a shank side surface there is a reinforcement portion connecting the shank side surface and the tool head.

Abstract: A cutting tool includes a cutting member having a shank portion located in a clamping recess of a clamping sleeve adaptor of a holding device. The shank portion has a peripheral shank surface including a switching arrangement including two circumferentially spaced apart circumferential outer portions and a circumferential inner portion extending therebetween. The circumferential inner portion has opposite electrical conductivity to the two circumferential outer portions. The holding device has an alignment indicating unit including an electric switch including two spaced apart conductive switch members configured to be in electrically conductive communication or non-communication with each other thereby closing or opening the electric switch, so that an electric circuit established or broken, forming first and second states of the cutting tool, respectively. Switching between the first and second states is realized by rotation of the cutting member with respect to the clamping sleeve adaptor.
Abstract: A cutting head rotatable about a central axis, comprising a tip portion and an intermediate portion. The tip portion has an axially forwardmost tip point contained in the central axis and three axially forward facing front surfaces forming three chisel edges extending axially rearwardly away from the tip point, each front surface having a radially extending cutting edge comprising a secondary cutting-edge portion extending radially outwardly from one of the chisel edges, and a primary cutting-edge portion extending radially outwardly therefrom. Each primary cutting-edge portion is contained in an imaginary annular ring surface having an annular ring width spanning at least radially inner and outer end points thereof. In a front-end view of the cutting head, each primary cutting-edge portion is concave, and radial planes intersect the imaginary annular surface to form imaginary rectilinear lines, each having a length equal to the annular ring width.
Abstract: A cutting head rotatable about a head axis has a cap portion and a mounting protuberance joined thereto. The cap portion has N cutting portions circumferentially alternating with N head flutes. The mounting protuberance has N circumferentially spaced apart engagement portions, each including a radially outward facing clamping surface and a torque transmission surface. In a cross-section taken in a head plane perpendicular to the head axis, a first imaginary circle having a first diameter circumscribes the N clamping surfaces, and N radially outermost torque points of the N torque transmission surfaces define a second imaginary circle having a second diameter. The second diameter is greater than ninety percent of the first diameter. A rotary cutting tool includes a tool shank extending along a shank axis and a head receiving pocket at a forward end thereof, and the cutting head is releasably secured in the head receiving pocket.
Abstract: A cutting insert includes an insert peripheral surface that includes at least one planar major insert side abutment surface and an insert lower surface that includes an anti-slip recess recessed therein. The anti-slip recess includes at least one elongated and straight anti-slip groove. Each major insert side abutment surface is oriented parallel to a groove longitudinal axis of a respective anti-slip groove. An insert holder includes a holder pocket. The holder pocket includes a pocket peripheral surface which includes planar major pocket side abutment surface and a pocket base surface having an elongated and straight anti-slip rib. When the cutting insert is releasably attached to the insert holder, to constitute a fastened position of a cutting tool, the anti-slip rib is located in the anti-slip groove that is oriented parallel to the major insert side abutment surface that abuts the major pocket side abutment surface.
Abstract: A rotary cutting tool includes a replaceable cutting head and a tool holder. The replaceable cutting head includes a forward cutting portion and a rearward mounting portion. The mounting portion includes a male coupling member that includes a back-tapered conical external thread. The tool holder includes a female coupling member that includes an internal thread. When the rotary cutting tool is in a locked position, the external thread is threadingly engaged with the internal thread.

The insert has mirror symmetry about a mid-plane and 360/N degree rotational symmetry about a central axis perpendicular to the mid-plane. The insert has two main edges which each have N main cutting edges and N corner cutting edges. Each main cutting edge has two raised edge portions and a lowered edge portion. Each main surface has N main rake surfaces and N corner rake surfaces. Each main surface further has at least N convex island protrusions and N at least partially convex peninsula protrusions, any and all island protrusions associated with a given main rake surface being located between two adjacent peninsula protrusions, each pair of adjacent peninsula protrusions having at least one island protrusion located therebetween.
Abstract: A tool adaptor has a front retaining portion and a rear mounting portion, the front retaining portion having a base jaw, a clamping jaw, and an insert receiving pocket located therebetween, and the rear mounting portion having a rear mounting surface and a first fastening bore. A primary slot separates the base jaw from the clamping jaw and communicates with the insert receiving pocket, and a secondary slot transverse to the primary slot separates the clamping jaw from the rear mounting portion. The first fastening bore has a first bore axis which intersects the rear mounting surface and the secondary slot. A cutting tool assembly includes a tool shank, and the tool adaptor secured to a front mounting portion of the tool shank by means of a first fastening screw occupying the first fastening bore and a first shank bore of the front mounting portion.

Abstract: A rotary milling tool has a tool holder and a milling head releasably attached thereto. The milling head has a plurality of angularly spaced apart peripherally disposed cutting edges which form an effective cutting edge. The milling head has a head through recess opening out to the head forward and rearward surfaces. The recess includes a centering region and a driven region, the driven region being axially forward of, and non-identical to, the centering region. The driven region has at least one driven surface facing opposite a rotational direction. The centering region has at least one radially inwardly facing radial centering surface located axially rearward of, and radially outward from, the at least one driven surface. The two opposing extremities of the effective cutting edge define two parallel planes respectively between which both the at least one driven surface and the at least one radial centering surface are disposed.

Abstract: A rotary cutting tool has a tool holder and a cutting portion releasably attached to the tool holder. The tool holder includes a mounting portion designed to be attached to a spindle. The rotary cutting tool also has a fluid channel and an energy harvesting arrangement which includes a turbine located in the fluid channel. The fluid channel opens out to a channel inlet opening, for the supply of fluid, located at the mounting portion and a channel outlet opening in fluid communication with the channel inlet opening.
Abstract: An elongated tool holder includes a tool anti-vibration component having a mass housing portion and an anti-vibration arrangement. The anti-vibration arrangement includes an enclosed interior holder cavity formed in the mass housing portion. The anti-vibration arrangement also includes a vibration absorbing mass disposed within the holder cavity and elastically suspended therein by at least three non-torus shaped, resilient suspension members contacting an inwardly facing cavity wall surface. A cutting tool is provided with the tool holder.
Abstract: A replaceable milling head rotatable in a cutting direction about a longitudinal central axis, the central axis defining a forward direction and an opposite rearward direction, has a forward cutting portion and a rear threaded coupling portion for coupling to a shank. The cutting portion includes two or more key actuating portions which assist in mounting the milling head onto the shank. The cutting portion includes a plurality of helical chip flutes alternating with cutting edges. At least one or more of the cutting edges and flutes extend axially rearward of at least a portion of the key actuating portions.
Abstract: A tool holder includes a coolant cavity opening out to a cavity inlet and outlet openings. The coolant cavity includes a cavity upper surface which extends along a cavity central axis.
