Abstract: An arrangement for archiving data in a relational database is disclosed. The arrangement includes a first table having a first data field. A value in the first data field is updated by a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) associated with the relational database when there is a change in the value in the first data field. The arrangement further includes a second table having a second data field represented by a lookup function. The lookup function references the first data field. The lookup function acquiring the value in the first data field for use as a value of the second data field only when a value of the second data field is required by an application program that operates on the relational database.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for instant message transmission includes a message center coupled to one or more servers and to an event engine by a network. An instant message is transmitted to the message center by the event engine over the network. An algorithm determines the optimum path for the transmission of the instant message. Users may share identical data via instant messaging, and may make changes to the data as it is streamed in real-time to designated users over the network. Abstract: An enterprise link for a software database is coupled to existing enterprise systems within an organization and also to an active data cache. The enterprise link contains an active designer whereby a user is able to create one or more data flow definitions on how to operate on data stored in the enterprise systems as the data in those systems changes. The transformed data is transmitted to a data flow service in the enterprise link in real-time where it is made available to end-users in the active data cache.
