  • Patent number: 5829557
Abstract: An electromechanically actuated disc brake system for motor vehicles comprising a floating caliper and an actuating unit mounted with the caliper. The actuating unit is an electric motor which, by interpolation of a reducing gear, powers an actuating element, which in turn controls one of two sliding friction linings mounted inside the brake caliper, to interact with the disc brake. With the intent to reduce axial dimensions of the actuating unit, the present invention includes an electric motor with a rotor of ring-shaped design to radially surround the reducing gear.

  • Patent number: 5826952
Abstract: A brake system for automotive vehicles includes a pressure generator to which wheel brake cylinders associated with the individual vehicle wheels are connected by way of hydraulic connections. Actuator units including a cylinder-and-piston assembly and an actuator are inserted into the hydraulic connections. The actuator units permit shutting off the hydraulic connections. To convert the brake system into an active brake system, when the pressure generator and at least one actuator unit are simultaneously actuated, the force resulting from the pressure build-up in the pressure generator and the external actuating force produced by the actuator are applied jointly to the piston of the cylinder-and-piston assembly.

  • Patent number: 5823065
Abstract: A driving crank for a windshield wiper system, wherein the crank lever is made of deep-drawn sheet metal. The crank lever has a rear part and a circumferential edge beaded towards one side of the rear part. At one end, the crank lever has an opening with an edge beaded towards the same side so as to form an inner cone. To prevent the inner cone from expanding and to reliably transmit high torques between the driving crank and the shaft to be secured in the opening, and vice-versa, the inner cone is expanded from the rear part.

  • Patent number: 5820286
Abstract: An attachment for a noise-and-vibration dampening fixing of a windshield wiper system to a vehicle body comprises a fastening eye with a circular aperture for receiving a rubber-elastic, hollow, cylindrical, noise-and-vibration dampening element with circumferential annular groove on its outside surface. Good stability of the attachment and its easy assembling are achieved in that, proceeding from the circular aperture, an open break extends through an edge, raised in an approximately perpendicular manner, so that a web is fastened on yoke tongues of a resulting yoke opening and bridges the yoke opening. The dampening element is insertable sideways through the yoke opening as far as into the aperture.

  • Patent number: 5821663
Abstract: Power supply is accomplished via two rails, which are arranged in one plane and which in each case have lugs, which can be bent out from the rail plane. In this case, contact arm of at least one lug is run away over a rail. In this way, a system which is quick to install and which, moveover, is quickly extended in the axial direction is produced.

  • Patent number: 5819193
Abstract: A circuit arrangement for conditioning and evaluating the signals emanating from wheel sensors in a first stage determines the sensor(s) supplying the highest useful signal at very low wheel speeds. The signal from the most sensitive sensor is delivered when the wheel speed is below the predetermined speed threshold. Above the speed threshold, however, the signal from a sensor arranged on a driven vehicle wheel is used as the vehicle speed signal. The circuit is especially suitable for anti-lock and traction slip control systems which supply speed signals which can also be evaluated for other vehicle control or regulating systems.

  • Patent number: 5808394
Abstract: This invention relates to a carbon brush for an electric motor. These carbon brushes are guided in tubular brush holders and are pressed against a commutator. Furthermore, the brushes of the present invention include inclined side edges so that the front frontal surface has a trapezoidal cross-section. The consequence thereof is that, when sliding along the commutator, the commutator bars will always support the side edges over the major part of their length. The ratchet effect is thus suppressed.

  • Patent number: 5806939
Abstract: A hydraulic bake system with electronic anti-lock control includes a multi-circuit braking pressure generator, electrically operable hydraulic valves, low-pressure accumulators which accumulate the pressure fluid that is withdrawn from the wheel brakes in the period of braking pressure reduction wheel sensors, and circuits are used to evaluate the sensor signals and to generate braking pressure control signals. The braking pressure in each wheel is controlled individually by the hydraulic valves. The filling ratio of the low-pressure accumulators or the residual volume is constantly determined and the pressure fluid discharge to the low-pressure accumulators is modified in the course of a control operation as a function of the length of the control and the filling ratio. Initially, there are no restrictions on the anti-lock function, while the rate of fluid flow is drastically reducted in the course of control.

  • Patent number: 5795039
Abstract: A circuit for a brake system with pressure fluid distribution, anti-lock control, and traction slip control. The circuit includes circuits to monitor the brake system and to change over or disconnect the control in response to defects and/or the respective control situation or driving situation. Upon failure of any one of the sensors which sense wheel rotation behavior or one sensor per axle or in the presence of an incorrect sensor signal, the vehicle reference speed is produced on basis of the intact sensors, and an electronic brake force distribution control function is still possible, however, an anti-lock control or a traction slip control is prevented. When the defective sensor is a rear-wheel sensor, both rear wheels are controlled synchronously.

  • Patent number: 5775470
Abstract: A hydraulic controllable vibration absorber for an automotive vehicle has a power cylinder that is divided a vibration absorber piston into a first power chamber, which is configurated above the vibration absorber piston, and a second power chamber, which is configurated beneath the vibration absorber piston. These configurations allow both chambers to be brought into connection with a balancing chamber. The vibration absorber is equipped with a sensor arrangement which affords a recognition of the direction of movement of the vibration absorber piston. The sensor arrangement is inserted between the second power chamber and the balancing chamber.

  • Patent number: 5774821
Abstract: Apparatus for improving the driving behavior of a vehicle is provided. The vehicle has front and rear axles, each having a plurality of wheels. Each wheel has a brake. Sensor are provided for measuring the rotational speed of each wheel, the vehicle yaw rate and the vehicle lateral acceleration. An anti-lock braking system provides first preset pressure values for controlling each brake, to prevent the wheels from locking during braking. A traction slip control system provides second preset pressure values for controlling each brake, to prevent the wheels from slipping during acceleration. A brake effort proportioning system provides third preset pressure values for distributing braking pressure between the wheels of the front axle and the wheels of the rear axle. A yawing moment controller provides fourth preset pressure values used to control each brake during cornering, to avoid application to the vehicle of an unbalanced moment which would cause the vehicle to understeer or oversteer.

  • Patent number: 5747885
Abstract: A central locking system for a motor vehicle which has a number of actuators, each of which has a signal transmitter unit which sends data signals to a control unit as a function of current condition parameters of a monitored opening of the motor vehicle or as a function of externally input command signals, and the control unit generates control signals from these data signals, and final control elements of the central locking system, which bring about the locking and unlocking of the opening of the motor vehicle, are triggered by these control signals. According to the present invention, each actuator of the central locking system has a separate control unit to which the data signals of the signal transmitter unit of its actuator, as well as selected data signals of the signal transmitter units of the other actuators of the central locking system are sent.
