  • Patent number: 5667331
Abstract: The invention concerns a shaft-hub joint between two equiaxial machine parts for transmission of high torques in a power train--a first machine part on the power input end and a second machine part of the power output end. The machine parts are joined to each other in a fashion movable relative to each other but rotationally fixed, and a positive-locking overload relief mechanism is provided between the machine parts, the individual locking elements of which are prestressed in the sense of locking. The overload relief mechanism locks the two machine parts against axial thrust up to a specific adjustable limit value whereby the positive locking will be eliminated when the limit value is exceeded. The interlocking elements comprise bolts with a head surface beveled in wedge fashion.

  • Patent number: 5667640
Abstract: A two-wire former for producing a web of fibrous material, in particular a paper web, is designed as a gap-former with the following characteristics: a first and a second wires form together a twin wire; a headbox injects the pulp directly between the two wires; at least one first dewatering zone consists in the advance direction of a curved, non-rotary, interrupted surface, for example, a forming shoe or several strips that form together a surface. The invention is characterized in that a convex dewatering element that starts directly at the point of impact of the jet of pulp is provided at the beginning of the first dewatering zone, seen in the advance direction, and has at least two curvature radii Ri in contact with the wires. Both curvature radii Ri are smaller than the curvature radius Ri+1 that follows them in the advance direction.

  • Patent number: 5638960
Abstract: A screen for sorting fiber suspensions comprising a plurality of screen perforations having a hole type design, with each screen perforation having an ingress area and an egress area for the flow of fiber suspensions, wherein the ingress area is rounded to a convex curvature. The convex curvature increases the velocity of the fiber suspensions through the screen thereby reducing clogging of the suspensions in the screen and increasing the throughput and the sorting integrity of the screen. Alternative embodiments of the screen include an area of constant cross section connecting the ingress area and the egress area, and transitional edges formed in the transition areas.

  • Patent number: 5626723
Abstract: A press jacket is formed of an elastomeric jacket material having two layers of reinforcement threads, namely an inner layer and an outer layer, embedded in it. The inner layer is formed of longitudinal threads which upon operation of the press device extend parallel to the axis of rotation of the press jacket. The outer layer is formed by a fabric layer or by circumferential threads which are wound helically and which, upon operation of the press device, extend approximately in the direction of travel of the press jacket. The reinforcement threads are surrounded by the layer of elastomeric material, which is produced homogeneously. • Patent number: 5622052
Abstract: A hydrostatic radial piston engine with two rotors that are supported on an axle so that they can rotate easily thereon. The rotors have a plurality of radial bores with displacement elements (pistons with slide ring) therein, sliding on the inside of a piston ring. The bores are connected via control slits with transport channels (high-pressure/low-pressure) that open on a side on the rotors for the purpose of controlling the transport of the pressure medium. The two rotors can be rotated easily on the axle which mounted on an intermediate bottom. The intermediate bottom is disposed between the rotors. Check plates are disposed on the ends of the axle which take up the axial forces produced by the pressure medium in the control slits of the rotors. The piston rings are supported in the intermediate bottom by a common connecting shaft.

  • Patent number: 5590577
Abstract: A cutting-off device and at least one tear detector are provided for cutting a web of paper in a press end of a paper machine, in response to a tear in the web of paper in a single-tier dryer end, the tear of the web of paper being recognized via a tear signal and transmitted to the cutting-off device. The tear detector has a transmission/reception base unit, which, on the one hand, at the start of a production cycle, or whenever a tear in the paper web is detected, records and stores the spectrum of the existing shade of color of the corresponding dryer felt, and possibly updates the stored shade of color at the time of subsequent tears. On the other hand, upon a later tear in the paper web, the base unit compares the shade of color of the dryer felt at the existing tear and the previously stored shade of color. If they match, the base unit activates the cutting-off device when (and only when) the stored shade of color of the dryer felt is recognized.

  • Patent number: 5589659
Abstract: A device for predosing coating composition on a traveling web of paper. A guide member extends obliquely toward the web. Downstream in the path of the web past the guide member, a doctor element is supported spaced from the tip of the guide member for defining a pressure space between the a guide member and the doctor element. Coating composition is fed through a feed channel between the guide member, on the one hand, and the doctor element and the supports for the doctor element up to the pressure space, on the other hand. An exit slot from the pressure space between the guide member and the web is defined at the tip of the guide member. The guide member has a guide surface down from the tip of the guide member, on the side of the guide member away from the doctor element which faces generally toward the web. The guide surface defines a return channel for coating composition that has moved out of the pressure space and through the slot.
