Patent number: 4181847Abstract: A synchronizing system for synchronizing the speeds of two webs of goods, wherein the first web runs at a constant speed and the second web has an adjustable running speed. First pulses are generated which have a frequency dependent upon the speed of the second web and a first counter is associated with the second web and is triggered by the first pulses. The first counter is also controlled to be started and stopped by at least one pair of timing marks which are running with the second web of goods. As a result of the frequency of the first pulses and the starting and stopping of the first counter, the first counter reaches a constant count upon stopping and each time the first counter is started for the next count this constant count is reached. Second pulses having a constant frequency associated with the speed of the first web are used to trigger a second counter which is started and stopped by the first counter when the constant count is reached.Type: GrantFiled: May 19, 1977Date of Patent: January 1, 1980Assignee: Jagenberg-Werke AktiengesellschaftInventors: Gerhard Buschmann, Karl Thievessen, Peter Weiss, Werner Reitter

Patent number: 4165843Abstract: An apparatus for winding a web of material has first and second supporting rolls each driven by a motor and has a gap therebetween wherein the spool of the web of goods being rolled is pressure biased by a pressure roll disposed thereabove. A control mechanism for the motors controls same so that as the coil diameter increases, the torque of the motor associated with the first supporting roll increases in the direction of movement of the web and the torque of the motor associated with the second supporting roll decreases in the direction of the movement of the web. The drives of the two supporting rolls are coupled by a brake of speed proportional braking torque for damping accelerations of the supporting rolls due to the displacement of the web from at least one thereof.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 1978Date of Patent: August 28, 1979Assignee: Jagenberg Werke AktiengesellschaftInventors: Walter Wedig, Ernst-Otto Kramer

Patent number: 4155515Abstract: A winding station for webs comprises a plurality of knives disposed side by side and which are laterally displaceable along the width of a web to predetermined positions for slitting the web into a plurality of narrower webs. A guide roller is disposed downstream of the knife and a plurality of pairs of winding frames are disposed in at least two rows in a staggered relationship on opposite sides of the guide roller. The winding frames are laterally displaceable into positions corresponding to the positions of the knives by means of servomotors. The winding frames bear projecting chucks for receiving winding spools thereon and gripper cones over the winding chucks which are expandable radially by axial displacement. A program control effects the positioning of the winding frames to align the gripper cones with the knives.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 1978Date of Patent: May 22, 1979Assignee: Jagenberg Werke AktiengesellschaftInventors: Herbert Schunmeier, Wilfried Kurth, Reinhard Hehner, Willi Heymanns

Patent number: 4105170Abstract: An improvement in a pressure roller arrangement for a winding machine equipped with a winding roll onto which strip material is wound, the winding roll bearing against a support drum by means of a pair of pressure rollers which act on the winding roll to press the winding roll against a drum support. The application describes such a device in which one of the pressure rollers is connected by a swiveling lever which is supported on a cylinder piston unit and the other pressure roller is pivoted at the swiveling lever by means of a follow-up lever so that it can be moved on the first pressure roller towards and away therefrom by means of a cylinder piston unit which is supported on the swiveling lever.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 1977Date of Patent: August 8, 1978Assignee: Jagenberg-Werke AktiengesellschaftInventor: Herbert Schonmeier

Patent number: 4092207Abstract: A bottle labeling machine is provided with a circular rotatable support about which there are positioned a gluing station, a magazine carrying a stack of labels and a gripper cylinder so that the pickup-transfer surface of a segment carried by said support successively receives glue, picks up a label and transfers it to the gripper cylinder. The segment is geared so that while carried by said support it rotates about its own axis in opposite direction from the support and from the gripper cylinder. This permits a particular machine capacity to be realized with fewer gluing segments.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 1977Date of Patent: May 30, 1978Assignee: Jagenberg-Werke AktiengesellschaftInventor: Rudolf Zodrow
