Patent number: 5692885Abstract: A laboratory pump (1) for liquids has a pump housing (2) with an inlet opening (3) and an outlet opening (4) and in which at least one pump rotor (5) rotates. The pump rotor (5) is joined either directly or indirectly by means of a transmission with a magnet (6), which is magnetically coupled with a rotating magnetic field of a magnetic stirrer (8). In addition, the pump housing (2) of the pump (1) can be joined with the magnetic stirrer (8) in such a way that the magnet (6) comes under the influence range of the rotating magnetic field of the magnetic stirrer (8) and is driven by it. The pump has no driving means of its own, and therefore can be designed in an especially simple way. Magnetic stirrers (8) present in laboratories can be used for driving the pump (1), and thus obtain an additional function.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 1995Date of Patent: December 2, 1997Assignee: Janke & Kunkel GmbH & Co. Patent number: 5556067Abstract: A laboratory apparatus, in particular a magnetic stirrer (1) or a shaker, has a receptacle (2) for a stand rod (3), the receptacle being provided in a separate stand-rod holder (4) which can be fastened to the laboratory apparatus in such a way that it is adjustable and can be fixed into position. As a result, the stand rod (3) can be fixed at various locations on the apparatus, so that each of the accessory devices connected to it, in particular sensors, dosing devices, or tubes, can be better fixed in their desired position. In addition, several stand-rod holders (4) with one stand rod each can be fastened at various locations on the laboratory apparatus at the same time, so that even in the case of complex experimental set-ups there are sufficient fastening options available for the accessory devices.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 1994Date of Patent: September 17, 1996Assignee: Janke & Kunkel GmbH & Co. Patent number: 5547280Abstract: A magnetic stirrer (1) has a two-part housing (2), wherein the lower part (3) contains a drive motor (5) and its controlling, while the upper part (4) forms the mounting surface for a stirring container that holds the stirring magnet, and wherein the separating surface of the two parts (3) and (4) runs approximately horizontal when in the working position. The upper part (4) of this housing (2) is made of glass and the edge (8) of this upper part (4), when in its working position, is tightly pressed against an opposing surface (9) of the lower part (3), and is possibly even bonded thereto. The edge (8) can have a widening (10) that engages into a corresponding undercut (11) of the lower part (3). This provides a very simple and economical design for the magnetic stirrer (1), but one which is nevertheless also tightly sealed and impervious to aggressive vapors.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 1995Date of Patent: August 20, 1996Assignee: Janke & Kunkel GmbH & Co. KG IKA-LabortechnikInventors: Alfred Wanninger, deceased, by Peter Wanninger, heir

Patent number: 5533800Abstract: A magnetic stirrer (1) with a magnet (3) driven in a rotating fashion by an electric motor (2) for the activation of a stirring bar magnet (7) inside a container (5) filled with a medium (6) has a digitally operated regulator (8), implemented with software, that is a software regulator. With this regulator, the rotational drive speed of the motor (2) can be held constant. At the same time, the change in the regulated quantity of this regulator (8) is detected and, in the event of a change in load, is reported to or displayed for the user as a trend or tendency of the viscosity change of the medium (6). In this way, the regulation of a constant rotational motor speed can be used at the same time for detecting changes in viscosity of the stirred medium (6).Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 1994Date of Patent: July 9, 1996Assignee: Janke & Kunkel GmbH & Co. Patent number: 5513912Abstract: A stirring apparatus (1), with a stirring tool and a measurement apparatus (2) for the measurement of torque that is introduced during stirring into the medium that is to be stirred, is mounted on bearings on its holding device (4) in such a way that it can rotate or pivot around the axis of rotation of the stirring tool, and is supported against the direction of rotation of the stirring tool. The measurement of the torque is carried out by means of a measurement value sensor, which records the reaction force of this support directly or indirectly. A measurement value sensor that is fixed in position can be used for the measurement of the torque, and the measurement of the torque requires only a single pivot bearing (11).Type: GrantFiled: January 19, 1995Date of Patent: May 7, 1996Assignee: Janke & Kunkel GmbH & Co.
