The device comprises a combining device for combining the tobacco to be processed and a process gas and which is connected to a discharge device for discharging a first quantity of the process gas and a supply device for supplying a second quantity of the process gas; the device having at least one control device for controlling the first quantity of the discharged process gas and/or the second quantity of the supplied process gas.
