Patents Assigned to K.J. Manufacturing
  • Patent number: 5090376
Abstract: A first pump can withdraw waste fluid from an oil pan reservoir and optionally, can be used to introduce flushing fluid through the oil filter and internal oil lubrication distribution passage system, to recirculate the flushing fluid within the internal oil lubrication distribution passage system, to withdraw the waste flushing fluid from the oil pan reservoir for disposal and storage in an external storage receptacle. An air purge connection is provided for evacuating fluid retained within the oil filter element and any fluid remaining in the internal oil lubrication distribution passage system into the oil pan reservoir prior to withdrawal of the fluid by the first pump. A second pump is provided for supplying fresh motor oil from an external storage receptacle through the oil filter directly to the main gallery of the internal oil lubrication distribution passage system.

  • Patent number: 5074380
Abstract: An apparatus and method for removal of spent oil from an oil pan reservoir of an internal combustion engine includes a flexible tube engageable through the dipstick sleeve of the engine. In the preferred embodiment, a vacuum pump is used to draw vacuum within a receptacle to thereby draw spent oil from the oil pan reservoir of the engine through the tube for temporary storage and transportation in an environmentally safe manner. Valve cover opening fluid fill adaptors are provided for optionally introducing fluid, such as fresh motor oil, through the valve cover opening. A dipstick sleeve adaptor is also disclosed for introducing fluid, such as fresh motor oil, through the dipstick sleeve.

  • Patent number: 5044334
Abstract: A process and apparatus for changing the oil in an engine and/or flushing and/or cleaning the moveable parts in the engine. The device includes an oil filter adapter adapted to be positioned in the oil filter boss, a remote oil filter mounting boss and inlet and outlet hoses connecting the two. The device is attached to the engine. Suitable pump-out and fill lines are connected to the device and can be releasably attached to an external pump device. When the device is employed to change oil, the external pump device is connected, and spent oil removed from the oil pan under suction force through the pump-out line. A measured amount of fresh oil is then introduced through pump-out line alone or through the pump-out line and the fill line and internal lube oil distribution system. Once accomplished, the external pump device can be uncoupled.

  • Patent number: 4976233
Abstract: Quick connect coupling adapters for facilitating simplified rapid oil change in an associated internal combustion engine, including a drain opening adapter having an integral body with a central throughbore and a branch throughbore angularly oriented thereto. The adapter includes appropriate means for attaching an end of the branch throughbore to the drain plug opening and means for sealingly attaching the drain plug to one end of the central throughbore. An oil conveying hose is attached to the other end of the central throughbore. The oil conveying hose includes a quick connect coupling releasably attachable to an external pump device. An additional oil fill adapter is positionable in a suitable engine opening such as the dipstick tube or oil fill opening in the valve cover. The oil fill adapter includes a central oil conveying body having an inlet and an outlet means for attaching the outlet in the engine opening, and a fill hose attached to the inlet.

The device includes an oil filter adapter positioned in the oil filter boss, a remote oil filter mounting boss and inlet and outlet hoses connecting the two. The device is mounted in the engine compartment. Suitable pump-out and fill lines are connected to the device and can be releasably attached to an external pump device. When the device is employed to change oil, the external pump device is connected, a brief surge of purge gas is introduced to remove spent oil remaining in the oil filter and internal lube oil passages and spent oil is removed from the oil pan through the pump-out line. A measured amount of fresh oil is then introduced through the fill line and the internal lube oil distribution system. Once accomplished, the external pump device is uncoupled.
