    Abstract: An outer handle device for a vehicle door includes: an outer handle having a supported portion on one end part thereof in a longitudinal direction; a support member having paired leg portions sandwiching the supported portion from opposite sides; and a base having paired support side walls sandwiching the leg portions from opposite sides. The supported portion is pivotably supported on the support member attached to the base by the leg portion engaging with the support side wall. A restriction device is provided between the supported portion and the support member, the restriction device restricting displacement of the support member toward a side on which engagement of the support member with the base is released at least when pulling the outer handle. Accordingly, it is possible to maintain a state in which the support member is attached to the base, even when the outer handle is forcibly pulled.

An elastic member has a pin inserted into the groove while being receivable by the portion when the rod is at lid closed position, the elastic member being supported on the case and exhibiting resilient force making the pin resiliently abut against the rod or coupling member. The case is provided with a restricting part capable of abutting against the elastic member, and restricting displacement of the elastic member to a side where the pin is disengaged from the groove.

The second interlocking member 73 moves in a direction orthogonal to the movement direction of the lock pin 19 and the first interlocking member 72 by interlocking with the first interlocking member 72.
