Abstract: An anti-inflammatory ophthalmic solution containing (A) 2-(2-fluoro-4-biphenylyl)propionic acid or its ophthalmologically acceptable salt and (B) .beta.-cyclodextrin or .gamma.-cyclodextrin. The ophthalmic solution makes easy operations conducted for diseases in ophthalmic region, and is useful for early recovery or reduction of inflammation by pre- and post-operative topical instillation thereof or by intraocular perfusion with a perfusate to which the ophthalmic solution is added, or for treatment of inflammatory eye diseases.
Abstract: Tetrazolylcoumarin derivatives of the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R is hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an alkoxyalkyl group or phenyl group, n is an integer of 2 to 4, and the R--O--(CH.sub.2).sub.n --O-- group is substituted at any of the 5, 6, 7 and 8 positions of the coumarin ring, and the salts thereof. The compounds are useful as antiallergic agents for preventing and treating allergic diseases.
Abstract: An ophthalmic solution suitable for adjusting intraocular pressure comprising (A) an ophthalmologically acceptable, water-soluble salt of 2-acetyl-7-(2-hydroxy-3-isopropylaminopropoxy)benzofuran, (B) benzalkonium chloride or benzethonium chloride, and (C) a member selected from polyvinyl alcohol, methyl cellulose, carboxymethyl cellulose, hydroxyethyl cellulose and hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose, the solution being adjusted to pH 5.0 to 8.0 with a buffer agent. The components (B) and (C) increase greately the intraocular penetration of the component (A) and reduce the irritation to eye of the component (A) so that the pharmacological action of the component (A) can be effectively exhibited. The ophthalmic solution produces an excellent effect on decreasing of intraocular pressure with reduced irritation to eye and stability for a long term.
Abstract: Coumarin derivatives of the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R is hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or an alkenyl group, R.sup.1 is hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkenyl group or an alkoxy group, and the OR and R.sup.1 groups each are substituted at any of the 5, 6, 7 and 8 positions of the coumarin ring, and the salt thereof. The compounds are useful as antiallergic agent for preventing and treating allergic diseases.
Abstract: A straight chain peptide type antibiotic K 582 M which consists of arginine 1, threonine 1, tyrosine 1, ornithine 2, hydroxyarginine m, lysine n as amino acid constituents and the process for the production of K 582 M comprising culturing a K 582 M producing microorganism.
Abstract: A pharmaceutical composition containing as the essential active ingredient a benzofuran derivative of the formula: ##STR1## wherein A is --COR', ##STR2## or ethyl group; B is hydrogen atom when A is --COR' ##STR3## or --COR" substituted at the 3 or 4 position of the benzofuran nucleus when A is ethyl; R is an alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms; R' is an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, an alkoxy group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms or phenyl group; R" is an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, phenyl or phenylalkyl group wherein the alkyl moiety has 1 to 2 carbon atoms; and the substituted propoxy group is at the 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7 position of the benzofuran nucleus; or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof in admixture with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. The pharmaceutical composition possesses a superior .beta.-adrenergic blocking activity and local anesthetic activity, and is useful for the prevention and treatment of heart diseases, hypertension and hyperthyroidism.
