Patents Assigned to Kalt Manufacturing Company
  • Patent number: 4650380
Abstract: A wire shaving apparatus for shaving a periphery of wire, bar or rod stock, including structure defining a product flow path between an input and an output and a plurality of shaving stations spaced along said flow path for scrapingly engaging product conveyed through said structure. Each shaving station includes a pair of slide mechanisms, one slide mounting a releasable tool cartridge including a pair of cutting tools having associated cutting edges positioned at a predetermined angle, and another slide assembly mounting a product support cartridge including support rollers aligned with said cutting tools for supporting said product as it is being scraped. The slides are reciprocally moved between processing and retracted positions by a threaded drive shaft, the rotation of which is controlled by a servo controlled system. A clamping arrangement associated with each slide mechanism releasably clamps the tool and support cartridges allowing easy and speedy replacement.

  • Patent number: 4114507
Abstract: A drill and thread forming threaded fastener having a roll threaded shank constructed at one end for selective engagement with a driving tool, a forged drill point at the other end of the shank comprising a generally cylindrical section adjacent to said threaded shank and terminating in a generally paraboloidal tip section, a pair of diametrically opposed flutes occupying substantially entire diametrically opposed quadrants and having longitudinally extending generally planar surfaces located substantially in a diametric plane containing the axis of the fastener, the radially outer margins of which form cutting edges.

  • Patent number: 4100638
Abstract: A machine for forging the leading end of a metal screw blank comprising two pairs of complementary dies, one die of each pair of which is stationary and the other movable to and from the stationary die. The stationary dies are supported on opposite sides of a stationary die support and the movable dies on discrete movable die supports at opposite sides of the stationary die support. The movable die supports are connected to form a movable die assembly, are supported by linear ball bearings on cylindrical ways and are reciprocated as a unit by a pitman connected to a crankshaft by roller bearings, thus providing for the production of a forged blank upon each 180.degree. rotation of the crankshaft. The movable die supports are adjustable relative to the stationary die support and the roller bearings have preload adjustments that make it possible to maintain a precise clearance between the respective dies of each pair in their closed position within one hundred twenty seven thousandths of a millimeter (0.

  • Patent number: 4091486
Abstract: A double-blow header, a fixed die, a tool or punch slide, a crankshaft operably connected to the tool slide for reciprocating the tool slide toward and away from the die, a punch carrier movably supported on the tool slide, a plurality of punch assemblies carried by the punch carrier, each of the punch assemblies comprising a punch and punch knock-out pin and a pivoted punch knock-out lever for advancing the punch knock-out pin in the punch when moved in one direction about its pivot, a new and improved punch knock-out actuating mechanism including a reciprocal rod mounted on a fixed part of the machine and extending in the direction of the tool slide, a lever for actuating the punch knock-out levers of the punch assemblies, a pivoted lever arm for moving the reciprocal rod, and an adjustable timing cam operated at one-half the speed of the crankshaft for swinging the lever arm and thereby actuating a knock-out lever of a punch assembly through the rod when the tool slide recedes from the fixed die.
