Patent number: 4408752Abstract: A switchable magnetic chuck has a magnet assembly slidably arranged in a casing to magnetize and demagnetize a top plate disposed in an open side of the casing. The top plate is provided with main pole members and auxiliary pole members which are arranged alternatively in the sliding direction of the magnet assembly, separated respectively by a non-magnetic separator disposed between them. To smoothen the change-over operation, enhance magnetic force under the magnetized condition and reduce residual attraction under the demagnetized condition, each main pole member is formed on the side facing the magnet assembly with an extension extending between the auxiliary pole member adjacent thereto and the magnet assembly.Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 1981Date of Patent: October 11, 1983Assignee: Kanetsu Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Mamoru Uchikune, Kiyoshi Yanagisawa, Mutsukazu Tagami, Taketo Shimizu, Kunio Horiuchi, Hiroo Sakaguchi

Patent number: 4401960Abstract: A magnet assembly used as a magnetism generating source for attaching an article to a magnetic substance or for magnetically retaining a magnetic member. The magnet assembly consists of a cylindrical casing open at least at one end, a core disposed within the casing at a spacing from an inner wall thereof, with one end of the core aligned with the open end face of the casing, and a permanent magnet disposed between the core and the inner peripheral surface of the casing. The permanent magnet has one magnetic pole on an outer surface thereof opposing the inner peripheral surface of the casing, and the other magnetic pole opposite the magnetic pole on an inner surface thereof opposing the outer peripheral surface of the core, so that the open end face of the casing and the end face of the core serve as a magnetic attraction surface.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 1979Date of Patent: August 30, 1983Assignee: Kanetsu Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Mamoru Uchikune, Mutsukazu Tagami, Taketo Shimizu, Kiyoshi Yanagisawa, Katsuto Yokosawa, Kunio Horiuchi, Hiroo Sakaguchi

Patent number: 4354930Abstract: A device for separating a mixture material into a magnetic material, a nonmagnetic conductive material and a nonmagnetic nonconductive material. The device comprises a drum revolving in one direction about a longitudinal central axis thereof. The magnetic material of the mixture material thrown into the drum is attracted to the inner peripheral surface of the drum by the magnetism of a magnetic field surrounding the drum and rotating in a reverse direction to a direction of rotation of the drum, and released from the inner peripheral surface of the drum in a predetermined rotational region in the drum, thereby being received on a receiving member. The nonmagnetic nonconductive material is directed in the direction of rotation of the drum along the inner peripheral surface of the drum, and the nonmagnetic conductive material is directed in a reverse direction to the direction of rotation of the drum by the electromagnetic force of the rotating magnetic field.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 1981Date of Patent: October 19, 1982Assignee: Kanetsu Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Takato Nakajima

Patent number: 4329673Abstract: A switchable permanent magnet holding device in which a permanent magnet rotatably disposed within a bore in a magnetic circuit block is rotated, so that the magnetism acting surfaces of the magnetic circuit block are brought into an exciting state for retaining a magnetic substance thereon and into a non-exciting state for releasing the magnetic substance therefrom. The permanent magnet is pressed against a stopper for impeding rotation thereof, due to a gyromagnetic force acting across the permanent magnet and the magnetic circuit block when the permanent magnet is rotated to a position in which the magnetism acting surfaces of the block become exciting.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 1980Date of Patent: May 11, 1982Assignee: Kanetsu Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Mamoru Uchikune, Kiyoshi Yanagisawa, Mutsukazu Tagami, Taketo Shimizu, Kunio Horiuchi, Hiroo Sakaguchi

Patent number: 4317717Abstract: An apparatus for separating a nonmagnetic conductive material from a nonmagnetic nonconductive material. The separation apparatus comprises a drum arranged in a tilted fashion and rotating in one direction about the longitudinal central axis and a chute for throwing a material being separated into the drum from the upper opening thereof. The material supplied through the chute into the drum is agitated by rotation of the drum, and the nonmagnetic conductive material of the material thus supplied into the drum receives an electromagnetic force produced by a magnetic field moving in a direction opposite to the direction of rotation of the drum, so as to be separated from the nonmagnetic nonconductive material. In order to increase the agitation effect for the material supplied into the drum, the chute is biased from the center of the upper opening of the drum to one side of the center depending on the rotational direction of the drum, and shoulder portions are provided on the inner peripheral wall of the drum.Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 1980Date of Patent: March 2, 1982Assignee: Kanetsu Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Takato Nakajima
