Abstract: Provided are film-coated powders, coating compositions and coated materials that give off vivid and deep colors. The film-coated powders have a coating film on the surface of substrate particles, and has spectrophotometric characteristic in that, when the ratio of the length at 400 nm between 380 and 780 nm on measuring the reflection spectrum from the vertical reflection light of the film-coated powder (wavelength definition width L) to the height of the reflectance 100% in the vertical axis (reflectance definition width R), L/R is 5/2, then the ratio of the peak height (H) to the half-value width (W), H/W is at least 1.
Abstract: A white powder characterized by comprising base particles having on the surface thereof at least one coating film comprising a crystallized-particle aggregate which is capable of imparting a white color based on the scattering reflection of light and which comprises crystallized particles and has voids among the crystallized particles; a white powder characterized in that it comprises base particles having on the surface thereof at least one coating film comprising a crystallized-particle aggregate which comprises crystallized particles and has voids among the crystallized particles, and that a white color is imparted thereto based on the scattering reflection of light occurring between the surface of the crystallized particles and the voids; and processes for producing these.
Abstract: A highly functional film-coated powder which is produced without using the method based on the hydrolysis of a metal alkoxide and without using a metal alkoxide, which is an expensive compound, or a highly flammable organic solvent and which therefore can be obtained at a low overall product cost without necessitating explosion-proof facilities in the production equipment and while attaining easy temperature and humidity regulation; and a process for producing the same. The film-coated powder comprises a base particle having films on the surface thereof, wherein at least one of the films is formed by reaction of a metal salt in an aqueous solvent having a constant pH. By the technique, the surface of base particle can be evenly coated with a solid phase film while inhibiting particle aggregation without precipitating an independent solid phase in the liquid phase.
Abstract: It is to provide a powder for use as a raw material for color magnetic toners for use in a color copier or the like which have been colored vividly as well as in white, and a dry color magnetic toner which is obtained from the raw material. The dry color magnetic toner comprises a powder comprising a light-interference multilayered film formed on a magnetic particle and at least one organic polymer coating film or a colored film on the surface of the powder. The process for producing the dry color magnetic toner comprises coating the surface of the powder having thereon a light-interference multilayered film with at least one organic polymer coating film.
Abstract: A powder having metal oxide films on its surface is obtained in which the films have a heightened refractive index and which hence shows a high reflectance and has a bright color. A powder is obtained which has a reduced number of metal oxide films on the surf ace and hence has a small particle diameter. A powder having a multilayered film on the surface which comprises a base particle having on the surface thereof a multilayered film comprising at least a metal oxide film formed by the hydrolysis of a metal alkoxide, and in which the multilayered film has undergone a heat treatment.
