Patent number: 5520534Abstract: A heating apparatus includes at least a pair of regenerative burner units having a fuel injection nozzle and a heat regenerator provided for a combustion air supply path. One regenerative burner unit is supplied with fuel through a fuel shut-off valve and a fuel change-over valve, and supplied with combustion air through a supply and exhaust change-over valve to perform combustion operation. The other regenerative burner unit performs heat regenerating operation by passing a combustion waste gas. Operations of the fuel shut-off valve, the fuel change-over valve and the supply and exhaust change-over valve are controlled depending upon an operation parameter of the heating apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 1994Date of Patent: May 28, 1996Assignees: Kawasaki Seitetsu Kabushiki Kaisha, Otto CorporationInventors: Tsuguhiko Nakagawa, Yoshiyuki Nakanishi, Motohiro Hirata, Koushi Kuramoto, Masamitsu Obashi, Yoshio Abe, Toshiyasu Yuri, Kazuhiro Kojima, Mamoru Yagi, Shoshichiro Tajima

Patent number: 4813867Abstract: A radiant tube burner is presented comprising a gas burner having a divergent flame type nozzle at its end and designed to be movable in the axial direction while placed coaxially in a combustion tube, primary air swirling vanes located at the end of the burner for forming a swirled flame and an air damper fitted on a primary air supply tube connected to the combustion tube for adjusting the primary and the second air ratio, whereby soft two-stage combustion takes place in the radiant tube. Generation of NOx is greatly reduced with the newly invented burner.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 1987Date of Patent: March 21, 1989Assignees: Nihon Nensho System Kabushiki Kaisha, Mitsubishi Jukogyo Kabushiki Kaisha, Kawasaki Seitetsu Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Yasushi Yoshida, Nobuyoshi Oomori, Kaneaki Hyodo, Kenji Atarashiya, Norihisa Shiraishi, Toshiyuki Hashime

Patent number: 4565240Abstract: Pressure is exerted on the interior of casting rolls with a negative crown so that the rolls may maintain a true cylindrical surface without any crown when the continuous casting operation is initiated. When the cylindrical surface of the rolls is heated by molten metal as the continuous casting operation continues, the interior pressure of the rolls is decreased, whereby the rolls may maintain a true cylindrical surface without any crown.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 1985Date of Patent: January 21, 1986Assignees: Kawasaki Seitetsu Kabushiki Kaisha, Ishikawajima-Harima Jukogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Kiyoshi Shibuya, Takahiro Kan, Yo Ito, Hiroshi Shimanaka, Yoshiaki Tanaami

Patent number: 4326337Abstract: An apparatus for measuring the piling profile of a blast furnace charge is disclosed. The apparatus includes a guide pipe having a distal end extending into the furnace. Means are provided for moving the guide pipe radially into and out of the furnace and for detecting the radial position of the guide pipe. A rope extends through the guide pipe to the distal end thereof and forms a loop at the distal end which extends around a pair of pulleys and which includes a plumb movably mounted on the loop. Means are provided for winding and unwinding the rope and for detecting the tension of the rope so that the contact of the plump with the charge can be detected. Means are provided for determining the position of the rope at such contact and for measuring the piling profile of the furnace charged based upon the guide pipe position and rope position at said contact.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 1980Date of Patent: April 27, 1982Assignee: Kawasaki Seitetsu Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Keiichi Akimoto, Tsuyoshi Tsuchida
