Abstract: A helmet is disclosed that includes a hinged chin guard and a hinged visor. The chin guard and the visor can each be independently raised or they can be raised together. That is, they can be rotated up and from in front of the face of a wearer of the helmet. A one-button release mechanism is provided on the chin guard to release detents that secure the chin guard to the cap body. The chin guard can lock into place when raised or lowered. The chin guard is adapted to rotate in a substantially elliptical trajectory about the sides and top of the cap body. The visor can be rotated through a series of ratchet positions and be removed from the helmet without tools and without removing the chin guard.

The main frame includes a lens holder for holding lenses, a pair of temple arms hingedly assembled with opposite side edges of the lens holder, and side assembling ribs protruding from the side edges of the lens holder. The temple arms extends backward from and being capable of pivoting around the opposite side edges of the lens holder, and each of the side assembling ribs has a side assembling groove formed between the side assembling rib and the lens holder. The inner frame is detachably assembled with the outer frame and has side edges each of which can be inserted in the side assembling groove. A sealing member is attached to an inner surface of the inner frame. The inner frame and the outer frame can be easily assembled with or disassembled from each other according to a user's intention.

A nosepad on the frame may carry a shield retainer for releasably affixing a shield to the frame. The nosepad and the half-jacket frame front may be cast together in one piece out of titanium or titanium alloy. An anti-slip nosepad cover may partially cover the nosepad and leave the shield retainer exposed. A removable shield may have a lower lens groove that circumferentially mates with an upper lens groove of an orbital of a half-jacket frame, thereby circumferentially completing the lens groove when the shield is in place. A rigid temple may carry a slip resistor for contacting the wearer's skin. The eyewear may have a vent to reduce fogging of the lenses and the shield may be air-permeable.
