  • Patent number: 7128649
Abstract: A music-oriented game machine with a feature to increase a feeling of competitiveness between players. Based on an evaluation of a performance of the first and second players based on their steps, the number of times step timing is presented as guidance is varied. Specifically, while reference arrows (46, 48) are displayed, a plurality of timing guidance arrows (50, 62) approaching the reference arrows (46, 48) are also displayed on a game screen image (40). As a result, guidance as to where step timing is arriving is shown to the player. Then, a speed at which the reference arrows (46, 48) approach the timing guidance arrows (50, 62), respectively, is changed from a default speed to speeds of half, twice, and three-times the default speed based on the result of evaluation on the respective player's stepping performances, to thereby change the guidance level.

  • Patent number: 6561910
Abstract: A game-development control method divides a game scenario into an introductory part including at least one pre-event and a subsequent main part including at least one event correlated with the one pre-event. When each pre-event is generated in the introductory part, pre-event generation data generated based on the generation of each pre-event are recorded on a recording medium. When each event is generated, pre-event generation data correlated to each event are read among the pre-event generation data recorded in the recording medium, and the read pre-event generation data are reflected in the contents of each event.

  • Patent number: 6542151
Abstract: A similar polygon, which is larger than a basic polygon and has a similar shape to the basic polygon, is disposed to face the obverse surface of the basic polygon. A different texture from that of the basic polygon is pasted on the similar polygon. Then, a polygon image including the basic polygon and the similar polygon is displayed. When the polygon image is viewed from a certain viewpoint, the similar polygon is seen behind the basic polygon in a ring-like form, which serves as an edge of the basic polygon. As a result, a three-dimensional image using polygons can be provided with an edge.

  • Patent number: 6530839
Abstract: A game in which a player is prevented from applying an excessive force to a button on a pressure sensitive controller. For a game device comprising a controller 32 for supplying one of digital values in a predetermined range in accordance with the force pressing of a button, the predetermined range includes a response range in which at least some of the digital values smaller than a predetermined threshold fall, and a response limit range in which the digital value at the predetermined threshold or greater falls. When a digital value supplied from the controller 32 falls in the response range, a response image changing in accordance with a change in the digital value is displayed. On the other hand, when the value falls in the response limit range, a response limit image whose change in accordance with the digital value is limited is displayed.
