Abstract: An improved screed plate having a top surface, a bottom surface, a curved leading edge and a trailing edge adapted for attaching to a screed of a paving machine is disclosed. The improved screed plate comprises a tapered groove extended from the curved leading edge towards the trailing edge along the top surface and terminated in a groove end. The tapered groove is arranged deepest at the curved leading edge and shallowest toward the trailing edge so as to provide flexibility to the screed plate while not reducing screed plate lifetime due to increased wear and tear. The increased screed plate flexibility facilitates crowning and other adjustments that require bending of the screed plate, and allow harder steels to be used than are used in conventional screed plates.

Abstract: A screed for an asphalt paver in which the bottom plate thereof is made of steel in the Brinell hardness range of 450-500 to engage road surfacing material. Stainless steel threaded studs are welded to the upper surface of the bottom plate for attachment of the screed to the asphalt paver.
Abstract: Bucket-type material lifters are adjustably mounted on the inner peripheral surface of a drier drum between pairs of spaced plates carried by the drum, so that the position at which each lifter starts to discharge material during rotation of the drum and the position at which it completes its discharge can be selectively changed.
Abstract: A slip-on shroud to protect the shank of a mixing paddle of an asphalt mixer. The shroud is disposed on the shank and is formed with a generally triangular cross-sectional area to protect the front of the shank while reducing the quantity of material used to form the shroud and is formed with a generally triangular opening to receive the shank. The shroud is also formed with flanges confronting the opening to retain the shroud on the shank while reducing the quantity of material required to hold the shroud on the shank.
